Whether right or wrong, I see Brady more as Will Clark than Rafeal Palmeiro. I just don't see him as someone who would intentionally cheat to win. But hell, I don't know the guy.
That being said, it's pretty clear he's competitive guy who obviously wants to win. I can absolutely see him instructing folks to play at the razors edge of the rules, but I can't see him instructing them to break them.
The risk doesn't justify the reward, if there even was one.
This would be my defense at least. If ball boys chose to do what they "thought" I might prefer, that's on them. Penalize the team, but not me.
And at the very least, I think the first SB victory is taint-free.

I am glad Goodell will oversee the hearing, and I hope that is where it ends (i.e. no legal system).
I am not surprised by the general reactions - i.e. anti-pats/Brady, given the 5 months of mostly NFL mis/dis-information. Coupled with most folks' understanding (or lack thereof) of the nuances of "Spygate", I wasn't shocked by the ESPN polls either - although it was unfortunate that the timing of them was the day before the rebuttal was published.
I would not be surprised to see both parties looking for a better way out, rather than searching for the truth in this appeal. Given the weather, the lack of clarity on the data & gauges, measuring only 4 Colts balls, and the relatively heavy nature of the fines as compared to the heater/stickum teams, even if you could feel certain that the bathroom deflation occurred it would seem tough to give out the harshest penalty ever for it.
Given the way the Rice/Peterson things ended - NFL issuing overly severe penalties, then courts forcing them to dial them back, I hope they can get there without the courts this time. I guess the wild card will be Brady - if he wants to go the distance to attempt to clear his name (which is a long shot to me - given the bathroom/deflator thing, despite texts from the same guys saying Brady wants 12.5 psi).
Its no dang wonder we cant win, amunst the lowest cheating percentages in the NFL!!
A wise man once said "If you aint cheating, you aint trying!"
This makes me think of week 4 last season....
Did the Pats not cheat thinking the Chiefs were easy walkovers or..... Did the Pats cheat but not good enough or... Did the Pats cheat to the best of their ability but still get spanked
I don't think his reputation is nearly as stained as most think. There's more evidence that science (and a faulty gauge) had more to do with it than Brady did.
Time to play football. Deflategate reminds me of some recent MLB scandals. Big pile of BS. Let's just play the game. And no, not a Brady or Pats fans (Ravens here).
1. Evidence and proof are not synonymous. You don't need absolute proof to convict in any court for any crime.
2. No part of the ruling was based on the judge's conclusion that Brady did not tamper with game balls. Instead, it was a procedural ruling, that would have applied equally *even if there was smoking-gun evidence that Brady was a red-handed cheater*:
"The Court is fully aware of the deference afforded to arbitral decisions, but, nevertheless, concludes that the Award should be vacated. The Award is premised upon several significant legal deficiencies, including (A) inadequate notice to Brady of both his potential discipline (fourgame suspension) and his alleged misconduct; (B) denial of the opportunity for Brady to examine one of two lead investigators, namely NFL Executive Vice President and General 20 Counsel Jeff Pash; and (C) denial of equal access to investigative files, including witness interview notes."

Glad you finally understand. I believe the word you were looking for was "free market." Not sure how that pertains to the Brady situation, but thanks for playing.
You don't need to agree with me about the Brady suspension. Most of the people on this thread don't, and that's fine. But to say the analogy you just tried to make is nonsensical would be an understatement. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other; there are no parallels. You're not comparing apples to oranges, you're comparing apples to car engines or to sea turtles. You may as well have said, "The Earth consists of 96.5% water, so I think Brady should be suspended for 96.5% of the games." I have to assume you're trolling, because nobody with the mental competency to type a complete sentence would actually say what you just said and believe it makes sense.
People who dredge up topics that have already gotten threads locked should be automatically banned. Not for 25% of anything. For life.
Edited to also add: 2 boxes out of 20 is 10%, not 25%. But again, thanks for playing. >>
The point is that 25% of the boxes in the case went to those who doubled-up, which was not considered excessive to the same people claiming that a quarter of the games in a season is.
Water under the bridge. Anywho~ As a big Brady fan since his days in Michigan, I'm happy the court got this one right!
Brady wins on opening day of football season (I watch Saturday football, not Sunday, with an exception for today being a Thursday nighter). Happy gameday everyone. Go Blue!

Unfairly so. Just no evidence he had anything to do with it. Assumptions are not evidence.

Belicheck has been cheating for years so I would expect his QB would be complicit as well.
Roll Tide!!!

I hear that to make the game fair, Brady will be throwing left handed. Probably just a rumor though.
