For my Registry 1861 Mint Set
Not expensive by any means at $55
Not an easy coin to find either with a population of 11 coins in XF45
PCGS XF45

Crazy to think a graded example is that scarce. I assume you mean only 11 coins in XF45 ?

That's because the other 90% of them are in the hands of collectors that see no need to send them in for grading. This is a $55 coin that could have cost someone $25-$30 to grade. Probably the vast majority of circ seated coinage out there is still raw.

Very nice look for an XF45.

    Nice historic date.

Since I know you like love tokens, I'll post my 1861 dime, which happens to have all three of my initials, and a marsh scene that sort of looks like the area where I live. I couldn't pull the trigger on it fast enough.

(It does have a weird toning pattern on the obverse- looks like it must have been attached to a chain at one point.)

That is a nice dime but don't get too excited over the fact that PCGS has only graded 11 of them in EF-45. There are a decent number of other pieces that are either raw or in other holders. What I am saying is this is not a big rarity and what you paid was quite fair given its eye appeal and originality.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Nice dime.... a little dark, but good detail.

LordM...that is an amazing love token to find with YOUR initials on it... that is cool. Cheers, RickO

Yes i am aware of this is not to get excited about. I just collect xf45 coins.. They are hard to find already graded.. It is easier for me to buy these graded.. I am happy about my purchase.. Happiness is in your head and your head alone... On ebay even 1861 dimes are not as common as others.. If you have any other 1861 dimes that look like this one you are willing to sell me that are raw minus what it would cost to slab it. Feel free to contact me.

Thnx for all the awesome comments
