Thanks for the kind words guys. This is the only place I get to show them off, my friends and family do not have much interest on an on going basis. I was fortunate enough a few years back to get my son to build a 57 Topps fb set with me. He actually picked every card without my input and did quite well.
Mark--Thanks for starting this thread, love your tobacco cards. I don't go that far back yet in my collection, so it is cool to live vicariously through other's posts!
Dustin--Nice MJ 2nd year. That is on the list of cards I want to pick up. Unfortunately, it is a long list so who knows when that will happen. You've got a sweet hoops collection.
ssdawg77--The 52 Topps and 54 Bowman's you are posting are incredible. The centering is off the charts on them.
Tim--As always, some incredible pick ups. Love to see that Brett run. Of course, I wish some of the racks you posted would have gone to the underbidder
Anyway, here is my contribution to the thread. Besides my sets and singles, I have been working on some unopened projects. I am trying to complete cello and rack runs for 80-88 Topps Football (I already have the wax box run) and I am trying to complete some 70's rack boxes. These were delivered in March. 1981 FB Topps Cello Box--one of the cleaner cello boxes I have come across.
The nicest 77 rack I have picked up. Cellophane so clear it looks like it was made yesterday (thankfully it was not made, or re-made yesterday).
A couple of 79 Racks. One nice baseball rack with Yount on top. And, I don't remember if this showed up at the end of Feb or in March, but either way very happy to get my first 79 FB rack courtesy of fellow board member Baz518. Of course a rack pack is like a gateway pack towards a rack box so you just might have started me down an expensive rabbit hole
Glad to see the thread is growing, thanks for sharing!
Super Bowl XXVIII: Buffalo Bills vs Dallas Cowboys - Running back Emmitt Smith rushed for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns earning Super Bowl MVP honors as the Cowboys defeated the Bills 30-13 to win their second consecutive NFL title.
Nice pick-up's Steve. Your un-opened collection is really coming along. Love the 79 FB rack. My favorite FB set of all time and the first FB wax I ever opened.
I'm primarily an insatiable unopened kinda guy, but over the past year or so I've been cherry-picking Bob cards. This 56 gray made an arrival today and I've been in a perpetual state of euphoria ever since. As far as I'm concerned, it's an 8 in a 2 holder and no grader can tell my eyes otherwise. I snagged it from the latest PWCC auction and was preparing myself for all sorts of surface atrocities based on Brent's description. Well, my naked eyes provided nothing. It took about 45 minutes worth of multiple light sources and a hell of a lot of tilting (to where I was looking at more gloss than image) to finally spot a very fine inch-long wrinkle on front and a separate one on back. Also, there's a speck of paper loss on the front underneath the 'R' in his sig.
All told, I guess these are the types of things that relegate a piece of cardboard to a deuce. Seems nonsensical to me, but hey, my wallet -- and my assemblage -- will take it. Now if only I could find 1,000 more vintage cards just like this.
Superior thread idea by Notorious M.A.R.K. Great stuff up above, and I look forward to what's yet to come!

Wow! Nice score on that Clemente. That certainly looks much better than a 2. Would love that card in my collection. Congrats.
<< <i>Nice, Vin! Are you collecting a bunch of his cards signed? Or only specific ones? >>
Thanks Dan, Right now I'm trying to put together his Topps basic run signed, but if I like something else I'll add it. I'm partial to stuff from '89 and earlier. Those were the years I collected.
Posting mostly for a thread bump, keep 'em coming. I'm enjoying all the pickups shared so far. Another arrival for my oddball golf collection, 1959 Kelloggs...
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Well, this one has a bit of a story behind it... When I turned 30 six years ago my older sister surprised me with this card.... She doesn't believe in paying big $ on a little piece of cardboard but I was really into collecting (still am but keeping things in perspective) and so she got into a bidding war--think she paid around $100--and gave me a large box with ribbon etc that ended up having a raw 63 Clemente she bought on eBay.... I was stoked!
(She did always have a physical attraction to Roberto so I think that helped her make an exception....)
Unfortunately, a couple years later it came back trimmed so I sold it... This card kinda had a black mark since the first one was altered... So recently, I saw this one decently priced and picked it up to replace the original.. Also my b-day is coming up in a week so the timing couldn't be better....
I love the variety here~terrific contributions by everyone!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Yankees man..Very nice collection esp. being down to two.
Hey, I forgot that I have Pujols ball, psa/dna certified. nice sig with his number on the sweet spot that I don't look at much. If you're interested. Just would ask for something in the fair range. I have no idea what they're going for.
Galaxy27..that has to be the best clemente 2 that I've ever seen. maybe resubmit? I don't even want to ask what a 2 goes for. either way what a steal. congrats.
Interested in higher grade vintage cards. Aren't we all.
Some sweet stuff being posted here. Too many to mention them all, but a quick shout out to Stephen and his sweet Clemente!
Anyway, a few things came in the mail this week:
First up, a case fresh looking 1982 Topps FB rack box from BBCE. Continuing my chase of rack boxes from baseball and football. This box adds to my 80's run in FB, 81, 82, 86, 87 and 88 down meaning I am on the look out for 83, 84 and 85 to complete my runs. Not pictured but also included in the shipment from Steve was a 1986 Fleer Craig Hodges PSA 9 for my 1986 Fleer PSA 9 set I am working on.
Speaking of 1986 Fleer, I picked up a bunch of cards for my set from a couple of great guys on the boards here, Greg (GregMo32) and Tim (Largentcollector).
Very fired up that one of the cards I bought from Greg was one I never owned, a Michael Jordan Sticker. This one is very nice and in a PSA 9 holder:
I was finally able to complete one of my Redskins projects!
I would like to thank some board members that helped out in the quest.
brendanb438 (Brendan) - for agreeing to trade his 1981 Redskins Ldrs. pack from the last group break alo32184 (Alex) - For the 1981 PSA 9 Cello BBCE (Steve) - For authenticating & wrapping the Rack Pack!
So here is my complete Rookie run of Art Monk unopened packs!
here's what happens when someone decides to offer the contents of a 1972 Topps 4th Series pack that they couldn't have graded because the seal was popped.
Reggie looked good in the scans - nicest card in the pack, well-centered with roughage.
Got half of the Arnold Palmer rookie (two separate cards to get both the front and back). Missed out on the other half, but wanted one in a bit higher grade than what was available anyway.
Back to my unopened roots before the month ends. Prior to today, I had a big, fat void in my pigskin collection for 1981, and this fasc racker filled it. Gotta love the enlightenment on top of the box.

Congrats on the 81 rack box, Stephen!! Was that the one BBCE had for sale that was marked "SOLD"? I thought Steve had a pretty appealing price on that box.
<< <i>This thread is so much fun to look at it. There is some serious cardboard being locked down by forum members.
This will close out the month for me!

A very nice way to close out the month with that 65 Mick. Nice pickup!!!
ssollars, Some nice 57 rookie pickups with the Unitas and Starr rookies. I remember when I picked up my Unitas rookie it only seemed appropriate that I pick up a Starr rookie to go with it. Any chance you are going to add the Hornung rookie?

Slum- that Garvey rack is right up my alley. I've got a matching 78 and if you ever decide to part with it, look no further than me.
The 81 cello box is killer too.
I wish I was grabbing more to share but this is the year of organizing...and ripping.
Good stuff guys. Great thread.
