Picked a very nice, mainstream variety a week and a half ago on Ebay. The seller wasn't able to ship until last Wednesday (Mardi Gras delays - seller is in 'Narlins'). It took a week to get to my local PO and finally went out for delivery today. I eagerly greeted the postman (a sub) when he arrived, but no package!!! I know (and hope!) it will probably show up tomorrow, but the angst it is creating until it does show up is unbearable!!! Arghhhhh!!!!!
Edit 3/10/15: Two days after the first "Out for Delivery" status update and still no coin, I went to the local PO and had a very nice discussion with the supervisor on duty. I mentioned to him that it was a substitute driver on duty and asked if that might be significant. I also asked him to explain the procedure for handling mis-sorted parcels. Anyway, he said my regular carrier would be back the next day and he would let him know about the situation. I made no direct accusations, but the inference was there. The next afternoon, wonder of wonders, it arrived. My regular carrier was back on duty and I went out to meet him, planning on giving him the whole spiel. He had a brown padded envelope for me and said his supervisor personally handed it to him and asked him to make sure I got it. No explanations, but at that point I didn't care.
The coin looked great! A 1901 $1 Vam-3 DDR which looked like a solid choice AU. The grade just posted today - AU55!!! Not bad for a shade under $200 net. It will replace my current example, a nice NGC AU50 in an old fatty.

Horrible waiting isn't it.
Wait until you sign up for text alerts, or even if you're not home but see the online tracking shows delivered... and when you get to the mailbox it isn't there!
Thankfully the time that happened the neighbor brought it over saying it was delivered to them by mistake.

<< <i>It's worse when both the pick AND the seller disappear ... >>
no kidding lol
I just got back from my local PO trying to get more info. All they could tell me was that they would look for it and would deliver it when they find it. Yes, it is insured, but for the "cherry pick" price of $200 - nowhere near the real value...

Wondering if there was any update to this story. I've been anticipating the arrival of two potential cherrypicks that shipped over a week ago, with the bad weather last week they fell off the USPS tracking radar for several days. Finally this morning they both show out for delivery. Hoping your story had a similar outcome.

being delivered by USPS !!! :-)
<< <i>I have a Registered package coming to my P.O. Box. THe tracking number shows it arriving at my branch this morning, being sorted at 10:09 and "delivered" at 10:24. Got there about 10 after 11 and there was no notice in the box and the people at the window could not find it. I'll have to go back tomorrow. >>
This used to happen with infuriating frequency at the branch where I used to have my PO box. In fact, it is one of the main reasons why, after 15 years of patronage, I no longer use that branch for any business.

Me three. A few years ago, sloppy branch office clerk placed a delivery notice intended for me (for a $1200 PCGS Proof Cameo Type coin) in the wrong box, and to compound the blunder, the counter clerk delivered it to the owner of that box without verifying that the P.O. Box mailing address on the package sent to me actually belonged to the person claiming it. When the claimant returned the opened package same day, the counter clerk simply tried to return to the sender, instead of thinking about the circumstance and forwarding it to me. I read the Riot Act to that branch manager so loud that she personally drove to the distribution center 10 miles away that night to retrieve my package before it got on an airplane.
