Can someone help me with my (RCA) Stockholm syndrome...

I helped a dealer friend of mine grade/catalog some coins today and saw this laying on his desk. When we settled up, I told him I wanted it as part of the deal image.

So, does anyone know what this token was for? I'm guessing you could use it somehow to win the new RCA Stockholm TV, but that's just an assumption. I was a year old in 1970, but my grandparents had a similar-looking RCA TV (as did a lot of people then, I'm sure)...

Bump for the morning crowd. I see a lot of them on eBay, and they aren't worth a lot- I'm just curious as to their use...

I am not too sure about the token, but I recognize the image as some sort of televisionary device. But I don't understand the purpose of those round thingies on the right.

Them's the modern ones! I remember when UHF came out and we didn't have a TV that would get them for about two years.

We didn't get our first non-dial TV until I was in my teens. I was a master with the fine tuning ring.

I used to watch "The Spade Cooly Show" on a 4" screen with
a large magnifying glass attached to the front of the screen.

It kept us quiet 'til the pattern came on.

I remember one of the harshest punishments I ever got was due to our RCA black and white console. It was about 1962 or so when the old TV wouldn't stop flipping (for you youngsters, flipping is what we called the phenomenon where the vertical hold wouldn't "hold". So the screen "flipped" from frame to frame vertically and was more than a little distracting). So dad had the TV repair guy over to take a look. Me, being the inquisitive "Dennis the Menace type" was looking over the guys shoulder as he removed the back of the TV and was fumbling around with the tubes. What I did next was (at least what I thought) was brilliant. I moved in a little closer and said Bzzzzzzt - right in the guys ear.

That got me a stern lecture in front of the TV guy and I was grounded for two weeks.

But it was worth it to see that guy back out of that TV at warp speed.....
