Do you try and correct his asking price?

.uh no

I hate coming in from left field and tell somebody I've never meet "Your asking price is batsh!t crazy" but I also sort of feel sometimes you have to tell people the truth.

This seller has a few coins for sale and the prices are insane.... I-N-S-A-N-E.

I mean I have no clue where he is getting his asking prices. They are so out of left field it makes me think he is a complete lost cause. He seems to be a the owner of some of those "We buy gold" huts and IMO he comes off as a novice guy who actually believes he has something valuable here. What do you think?

How do you tell somebody who thinks there coin is worth 48 thousand dollars that he would be lucky to get much more than $480.

Oh and take a look at his other nearly 100k Silver Eagle...uh HELL no

In the very near future E-Bay will be banning showing grades on off name slabs in the pictures (You'll have to edit out the grade in the pic of the slab) so at least one of these scams will no be possible.

Any buyer who buys this material from this seller deserves to be burned.

  • The ANACS coin is real and not a scam. That being said would it at this date cross at an MS 70, NO! PCGS has not graded any for this date at an MS&) but NGC and ANACS have. The NGC coins are selling at $20,000.00 to $30,000.00 so the asking price might be a bit off but again the coin is not a scam. The SGS coin though is. Here is a nice MS70 on HA close to 30gs link

They're his coins so he can ask whatever he wants.

He's got a lot of negs from a year ago - and most of those are on 99c coins.

Perhaps his plan for that listing is to promote his $233,000 turnkey business listed here

    I dunno, I didn't read it.

I agree. It's none of my business if he wants to list overpriced items that will never sell. The market will bring him face to face with reality sooner or later.

Your offer of US $21.50 was declined.
    - You still have time to make another offer.
    - You can also buy it now.

Why has eBay made it so you have to click to see the full auction description? Seems like it's going backwards

The seller has plenty of misspelled words in his ad. It makes the seller come across as an intelligent person. This phenomenon can also be seen on Craig's List. There also, you will find plenty of ridiculous coin ads for insane prices with lots of misspelled words. The only explanation is that these people are not very intelligent.

This is not true as some sellers first language is not Engrish. In the Hispanic communities we see a lot of spanglish spoken and written.

These nonsense listings are the fault of eBay.......until eBay stops their stupid 99,999 free listings promo's that they offer nearly every week, people will just keep listing coins at ridiculous prices as it costs them nothing. If eBay would stop these listing promos, these types of listings would go away.

"Correct' a seller's asking price? There is no 'correct' price. Negotiation is part of the game, and some sellers do ask for moon money. If the seller's asking price is too high for you, just move on.

what would be gained by telling the seller the price is too high ? if it doesn't sell he will figure it out
regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

Well, he does say it is a "great coin to make money on". That would certainly be true for the seller, if he finds a buyer at that price.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

We have major national dealers (who we all know) that at times are asking prices beyond insane....and they know it....and they know you know it too. But, if the right little fish comes along, that's all it takes.

Don't forget that "no good deed goes unpunished." If you try to educate this seller, don't be surprised if he blocks you from bidding on his auctions which may not necessarily be a bad thing.

The seller already knows the game, and he knows that his coin is worth silver spot + the silver Eagle premium.

All sellers know their overpriced and junk coins are overpriced and junk. The sellers purchased their garbage coins for garbage prices and figure they can try and fool someone, that is how they know what they offer is junk. For a lack of any real life, probably no sex life or friends, they waste everyone's time listing their garbage on Ebay. image
