I just got this seated dollar.
I'm no stranger to the series and once owned a BIG ....66. even though it was in a 64 rattler when I had it...snif

But THIS dang thing has me in a spell or something.

image

Sacrilege, but I like it ....better...image than the "better" one. This one is 64.

The color washes over it and makes the motto appear to be on parchment.

Fields are semi P/L with satiny coruscating wheel effect.

This coin has me all goofy about getting back IN the game.

Drat, I thought I had passed this stage. image

I'll try not to talk about it any more.
maybe

Showstopper, nice coin, whoever did the photo needs to come to the front of the line.

There's talk at the WB studios about a new reality TV show. It's tentatively titled "Larry in Love". image

Maybe there should be a 10-point grading add-on for "character".

I'm not a huge fan of the Seated series but THAT coin would cast a spell on me as well. Congrats!

Not that I care or anything, but do we still have "icon upload" days? image

Your thought process here rings true in my ears. image Coins in higher grades are not universally more desirable than coins in lower grades. Sometimes it's pretty hard to get people to acknowledge (or pay for) anything but the number on the holder. To me, that's the biggest argument against playing the registry game. It's a darn shame when you trade away a perfectly nice coin to fund an "upgrade" that is technically better but mundane in comparison. The broader market is too hung up on the number on the holder. What would you rather have, a dozen coins like this or a single ho-hum MS66?

This particular example is rather nice, and I can see why it has stolen your attention. At MS64, it's plenty BIG enough for me.

That is a darn nice coin.

Seated dollars are not my favorites either because so many have been messed with, and some of the messed with ones look better than the pieces that get grades. I have my two type coins, and they are okay, but I don't plan on getting any more.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Tis a nice looking coin ...but....the 66 is tons better. For multiple reasons.

Wish I had both. Back then, it cost far less. While I enjoyed it immensely, if I had to sell one, it would be the 66.
    For multiple reasons also.

The best part of collecting is finding that special coin that brings out the magic. It doesn't happen all that often, but you know it when it strikes you.

    Great coin,
