The 1859 is one of the most under valued No Motto $5's. Less than 100 known and after the 42's it is the larest $5 before the Civit War dates.

Dozens of BST deals completed, including: kalshacon, cucamongacoin, blu62vette, natetrook, JGNumismatics, Coinshowman, DollarAfterDollar, timbuk3, jimdimmick & many more
<< <i>The 53 and 54 are a great pair. There are a few of those 53's and 54's in OGH's that suggest to me a small hoard. They all have the same look.

The 1853 came from a group of at least five, which per certification number indicates that they were slabbed at the same time. I still own two from that grouping.
The 1854 is from a different time/place submission though was with the 1853 in my "small hoard" for a period of time. That's obviously not what you had in mind.
Outstanding presentation of DOGs!

i think the 47 is very close, especially in hand, to the look of the 53 and 54. the cert number is much closer to the 53 as well, but i don't know if that means anything though. they definitely "go" together!
the 59 is much better than au50, i think. in hand, it has the luster of some 55 coins i have seen. this one should have a gold sticker, but i guess that's just me over-grading coins i like. i have a tendency to do that!
in retrospect, it's a bit weird to see a moffat in this grouping, but i needed a good photo of it and i am building a set of fives that includes territorials. the fields on this piece are rough due to either the crudeness of the die or rust. in this thread, 1844-D Quarter Eagle ex Bass, by JJSingleton, the coin shows similar fields...is that strange for a dahlonega piece? does this happen due to unpolished dies? does anyone see and have a proper explanation of what i am talking about?

Regarding the 44-D Qtr Eagle, Doug Winter discusses planchet roughness as the cause. I suspect if it was rusted dies it would have effected all of the coins. Dahlonega was notorious for poor planchet preparation.

<< <i>Oh yeah dagman. That twin is a bit dirtier and prettier...just they way I like 'em! >>
I think this is 2 shows in a row you both have been having similar coins imaged at the same time, next time you guys should talk!
<< <i>You know - I think you are correct. I am going to have to pre-coordinate with Steve before the next show. >>
How about you both come to CSNS
