1st week in April Heritage Auctions has a PCGS 1926-s 65-Red Lincoln cent up for bid. What are your thoughts on what this coin might go for?

Yea, I laughed when I read that.
I have to admit, this is THE nicest 26-S I've ever seen.
<< <i>Every time I see that one I think the rev is RB. >>
And this is why I will likely stick to silver coins. The BR/RB/RD is so subjective and different years/rarities seem to be judged by very different standards....then if something turns while you happen to own it you end up flushing so much money down the toilet.

<< <i>You can buy a nice Chain Cent or a 1792 Half Disme for that kind of money. I don't get it. >>
I'd go for a MS63RD 26-S in a OGH that's stable and spend the left over $113K on a real coin.
does anybody know if this is a new discovery or a upgrade or cross made coin.
Can you imagine finding this damn thing in a book full of Lincoln cents that just happen to come in to a local shop. Something dreams are made of

+1 the best I have seen yet.

<< <i>I don't care what it looks like; I would not buy a RD coin in a new holder that is worth more than $50. The only RD copper I own is an 09 P IHC in an OGH that I purchased over 15 years ago. People seem to forget the copper guarantee matter. >>
Considering all of PCGS's warranty has been watered down to only cover in correct grading at time of grading, why is copper color so different? Any coin that turns in the holder will need to be conserved at cost or sat on and sold.
I'm not really up on this series, but I do see there's a nearly tenfold increase in price from 64 to 65 Red.
I certainly agree with Elcontador. I cannot see paying Red money for something recently holdered, especially with the guarantee the way it is.
I posted this a while ago, where an SLQ went from 90k to 250k from 65 to 66. Also crazy. While you can argue whether this really is a FH coin, it's not going to change in the holder.
The power of plastic.
Uncirculated-Questionable color is my call.I'm thinking $10,000 and not a penny more is its value in today's market.

No question from CoinFacts pictures it used to be a 64. What I don't understand is that the 64 cert. number is 28879657 and the 65 cert. number is 25224396. How could the 64 cert. number be higher than the 65 cert. number?

It is interesting to compare the images of that coin in 64 and in 65.

<< <i>The difference between the two sets is subtle. >>
Subtle is an understatement. Without meticulous study, they look like the same image.
