Aren't the Presidential dollars collector only?

I have my bank save "funny money" for me, and though its always just Kennedy halves and Presidential dollars I always buy what they have set aside for me to encourage them to keep doing so.

They get a steady trickle of Prexbucks, and today's five included a Washington, a Pierce, two Hayes, and a D-mint FDR! Very sharp edge. Wonder if it came out of a Mint Set.

I've gotten them out of vending machines in very circulated condition.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

I believe the more recent issues were collector-only. The earlier issues were available through banks.

I haven't actually seen one in a cash register in quite some time.

I thought that all of the recent presidential dollars were only issued at more than their face value. I have gotten some recent proof quarters in change, but I have seen a presidential dollar in change mainly be they don't circulate.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

The only ones I have gotten in change came from the stamp machine at the post office.

The Mint is mainly interested in selling to Roll & Bag collectors. Is anyone still slabbing rolls?

    Someone knows what collectors want.

2012 to date are mint catalog only

Proofs circulate, why not the rest...

2011 was the last year that they were struck for circulation and you could purchase rolls at your bank.

...The banks never order them! Any that come into the bank in transitions quickly get sent back to the huge supply already in the federal reserve vaults... image

Yeah, like most coins, Presidential dollars are as collectible as those collecting them make them out to be. I keep my album up to date , plugging 4 holes per year until who knows when ?
It's those guys who put PROOFS in the albums that are serious collectors.
