Well, with the latest sale over and I missed the one coin I was after by a hair, seems like a decent time for an ex. Newman thread.

  • My bid for the gilt 1868 $10 pattern (J-662) in the first Newman sale was blown away; I was glad to get another chance at a $10 pattern when the 1868 aluminum proof set was broken up.

    Happy to win this coin (lot 3455) at what I thought was a more reasonable price to add to my collection of Liberty $10's.

    I was completely blown out of the water every time I placed a bid. And wasn't that I didn't try. Some of the prices realized on some of the items that interested me were double the previous auction results.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
