Breaking news: Dormant collector pulls the trigger!

For immediate release:
RYK pulls the trigger!
St. Louis, MO, November 15, 2014:
After a long period of essentially no coin buying and heavy coin selling, once prolific gold coin collector, ryk, got off the schneid and purchased a coin! The coin is an undisclosed gold coin from the recent Eric P Newman Heritage sale, and he plans to cross it into a PCGS holder, as always, as soon as possible.
When asked why he did it, ryk replied, "I have been on the sidelines long enough, and the coin collecting community needs my involvement, on the buy side, for a change. I have always wanted to add a gold coin from Eric Newman's collection to my own. I ran right by his house three mornings a week, and he never offered me one, so I just took the initiative." When probed whether this was the start of a larger move back into the coin hobby, his reply was noncommittal. RYK has not added a coin to his collection since May 8, 2014, over six months ago.
Fellow collectors and oft competitors, Boosibri and XF45, were reached for their reaction. Boosibri said that he welcomed the competition back into the dirty gold space (but was still hoping to wrestle two coveted coins from rye's collection). XF45 said, "Meh". Longacre could not be reached for a comment, despite multiple calls, emails, and snapchats to him at his undisclosed estate in Connecticut.

PS....Welcome back to the BUY side!!
Apparently a critical purchase from a huge historical collection. For those three of you involved, BRAVO !!! I hope this was a MEGA deal.
But . . I will keep on this thread for significance for me . . . . .

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
You were never dormant.😛
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Welcome back RYK!

It is modest, but it is indeed a coin.
Edit: It's been so long I forgot how to link an image.
Nice coin, RYK.
I like the color of the coin in the slab shot.

For some reason Heritage decided to do the close up shots of all the Newman gold in an ear wax yellow hue. I'm sure the coin closely resembles the slab shot.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At an Undisclosed Location in Connecticut, November 17, 2014-- Longacre (PCGS Handle: Longacre) announced today that he has formally rejoined the PCGS message boards, after an absence of untold months. When asked about the time away from the boards, “your very own Longacre has been active at his estate, recently completing quite an expansive renovation, which negatively impacted his coin funds. During the time of self-imposed exile, however, Longacre’s overstuffed chair has received quite a workout, with a vast amount of numismatic reading taking the place of numismatic purchases. The new addition at the estate also includes many built-in bookcases, which he intends to fill with the latest Whitman titles, but only authored by his beloved QDB.”
He further added, “the bounce in the US economy has allowed me to rehire all of my domestic help, including Consuela, who rejoined the estate as valet de chamber. Longacre looks forward to many evenings being offered his smoking jacket, fine cigars from the Dominican Republic, and only the best amontillado from the eldest of the aged casks in the wine cellar.” Lastly, “The Man seems to now allow access to the PCGS boards during the working hours, which will allow Longacre to be active during the day, and periodically take a well-deserved respite from the drudgery of the tax world.”
Longacre also announced that he approves of the latest RYK acquisition, and looks forward to having his staff monitor the boards for any threads that he needs to reply to.

Sounds good! (When do I get my gold coins? And men get real gold, not that chocolate in foil stuff!)
OLD money will always be more lovable than NEW money.
And the discussions on this forum about really OLD money is way more interesting than anything in the WSJ.
Welcome Back.

<< <i>Looks like we got a twofer !! Welcome back both >>
It would not be the first time Longacre rode in on ryk's coattails.
So RYK, are you back in or is this a one off?
Early indications are that it is a "one off", but once you open Pandora's box, all hell could break loose.
And for the newer members, unfamiliar with Lord Longfellow, a snapshot taken after he received the wire report.

I concur. For me, it's been about 6 years. That's what I call dormant. 7 months I'd call doormat.
