Just Knocked off Another Vintage Graded Set - 1974

Just finished off my 1974 graded Topps regular baseball set. The last card I needed was #329 Mark Belanger. I was hoping to add a 9 but not to be, so I settled for an 8 instead. I also have a graded wax pack from each of these years to complete the basic sets with wax pack.

1961 - 100% complete - 8.08
1967 - 100% complete - 8.95
1968 - 100% complete - 8.22
1969 - 100% complete - 8.69
1970 - 100% complete - 8.22
1971 - 100% complete - 8.07
1974 - 100% complete - 8.98
1975 - 100% complete - 8.86

Other than my 89 Topps Hockey set I wish I could put together vintage sets like these...just can't narrow down on ones to focus on. Congrats on finishing another set!

Thanks. I've been building them for the past 15 years or so; 25 for the 69 set. A lot of them came from my own submissions. I Went through a few high grade raw 70 sets and about 5 high grade 71 sets. A lot of my 8s are the best of multiple examples I've owned.

Thanks. I'm about finished with my 75 regular set and will fill in the few gaps shortly. Also close on 73 and 74. I've been slowly adding to my 66 set to work backwards.

That's one hell of a run and an awesome accomplishment! Lots of iconic cards in that stretch, Bench, Seaver, Ryan rookies etc! That 71 set is impressive enough. I was happy enough with my 53 set getting done as a goal I want to go thru 57 maybe one day. Congrats!

Thanks everybody. Mike, I am slowly building out my '66 set. After I complete the 70s sets through '76, I can focus more on it. As for 1972, I'm down to needing 99. I've been adding to it as well. Mostly going for cheaper 9s and the rest 8s. Hopefully by the end of next year, I'll be complete from 1967 through 1976.

Most hilarious thing I've seen here in a while. Mentioning your 89 Topps Hockey set on a thread like this is like driving a Geo Metro alongside a vintage muscle car parade.

Thanks. I've started posting scans of my '67 set. Mostly the high numbers so far. It takes a long time. Here are a few highlights though.

It's a mix. Use some of the large MJ Roop boxes, some of the smaller dark blue cardboard boxes PSA sells, and some white 1000 ct, two row boxes sold at the local card shops. Valuable cards get stored in a high security location, commons stored in the safe.

Congrats on finishing another set. Impressive on so many levels (patience, perseverance, budget). I said it last time I'll say it again, I don't know how you baseball guys do it. I just finished my 61 set this week. Of course mine was basketball and the checklist was 66 cards. And I barely had the patience to get through that! You've got me beat in cards but I've got all 66 cards scanned and up in my thread so I have for you in that department

so let's see some scans! Congrats again.

It's a TOUGH set in PSA 8 or better~I'm at 96% after 8 years and it's been a long ride but a great challenge.
