Great job! Glad to see those TN guys getting some play. 😀
Thank you!
I realize wrestling cards aren't obviously as collected as traditional sports cards but I think the feature is awesome and brings to light a set that very few know exist and has a great story behind it.
It will be interesting to see as time goes on if more sets surface from that state. The lot that sold on EBAY earlier this year was a shop from Tenn. The other lot that sold in 2016 came from a closet in the Panhandle. More exposure you would think would bring some out generally but in this case time will tell.
I think it's a perfect "neat" set and very well-designed for the era. Regardless of what may turn up in the future, not too many were made in the first place. I enjoyed the article as well as David's enthusiam for the set.

Thanks for checking it out. I too love the design. I realize modern cards have better printing technology and photo quality but I love the older cards that are more simple and you can't go wrong with roast beef and beer!

No love for the 1981 Hogan magazine cut card. I was actually glad Rob turned my $4850 into 8k. Good for him.
You were an early collector so your basis on the trade component was probably very low. Either way prices on many items are much higher today and once again it sounds like both parties were pleased with the deal.
The point was obviously that there is demand for the signed cards and prices have risen significantly there.
Had someone walk into my shop today with a partial set of these, but since I cant find any recent ebay comps and the condition is not the best, I have no idea what these are worth to even begin to offer on them. There is 18 cards of the set, the Yamamoto is the worst with multiple creases on up to some of them which I think have an outside shot at a 6 or 7. Most I think would grade in the 4-5 range. Any ideas?
I dont have the cards in front of me, he is going to contact me tomorrow. I know it is missing the cover card and the Prince Something or Other card. If its the same one, the Yamamoto is creased beyond belief
No, he doesnt have a clue on the rarity, in fact, he brought them in along with a bunch of early 90's junk just to see what they were worth. He said he thought he had more wrestling and if he found them was going to bring them in as well, so hopefully he does

Not sure how but a popular wrestling site in Canada picked up on the article. Very cool!
Great article and cards. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks guys!
Having Scott and Bob made this story.
Great seeing this story get some ink in the PSA magazine!!! Nice job dpeck!
Wonder if any signed cards exist out there. Maybe someday in Psadna slab!!!
Thanks!
Dr. D did sign a copy earlier this year at a show I am told. Not sure if it is the beater that sold in the lot on EBAY.

I see Eric from the Fat Packs Podcast interviewed you! Plan to listen today on the way to work.
Yes we did an interview this week and it is on their current podcast. Hopefully you like it!

Well put on the reasons I like that set!
Great interview!
Don't forget Hogan has another rookie with the 1981 Marusho Set.
I tried to get PSA to grade the 1981 Marusho cards, but they turned me down. Dave, great interview. Who paid 8k for the signed Andre?

I have one of those little mini Hogan's and it is a cool card but I would say the Popy you guys have is a better card.
You did. Rob explained the deal and it has an 8k value in his mind and it sounds like both parties were very happy.
Thanks for listening.

I liked your point about the airport scenario. Flair or Schmidt - So true - Flair wins every time.

It really is.
People love old wrestling. More than many realize. As each year passes more wrestling collectors emerge. We all have a good thing going with it.

Can you post pics?
Had someone contact me on Twitter with 18 cards. Might be same lot.
Some staining on back.

Prince Tonga.
Sounds like a different lot.
Is the guy dialed in on the rarity?
Prices are hard to gauge.

Anyone ever eaten at a Rax? I did as a kid growing up in Central FL.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Where were Rax’s in CFL?
I feel like I sort of remember them.
There is still an existing Rax off of US23 in Ohio a bit south of Columbus
South Orlando.
