This is the second time I have worn it. I normally wear a basic Lacoste T-shirt with the shorts and shoes I had on but none were ironed and I needed to leave in a hurry and threw the PSA shirt on.
Everyone close to me knows my PSA card collection is really important to me so no issue rocking a nice PSA t-shirt.
Dpeck, not a wrestling fan (that's my neice ) and didn't know they made cards back then. Your thread made me curious so I started reading it and it turned out to be pretty interesting.
Added: As long as you like them that's all that counts. Go back to the oddball '50's-'60's baseball cards by Jello, Post, Johnson Cookies, Kahn's Wieners and even Hires Root Beer. Gota love umm.
I think this is one of the most interesting threads I have ever read on the boards. As collectors, we all dream of finding that lost stash of rare cards or trapping that elusive white whale. We all have our own collecting specialties and I admire people that excel in the collecting endeavors. DPeck is passionate and persistent and as we all know, persistence pays off. I am very excited for David and his acquisition of the Rax Wrestling set. I can't wait to see these cards in PSA slabs as well.
It was great chatting with you last night. It is fun to talk to someone who enjoys collecting as much as I do.
I am also happy to know you picked up a PSA 10 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series A star card in the early days and could make a serious profit on the card.

I've been waiting about 6 months on some player set requests and have only moved up about 20 slots in that time. At the current rate it should be about 3 years by the time they get added. Haven't tried any company sets, but would hope they're faster on those.

I've had set requests sitting 30 or 40 spots down go active before the ones higher up. No idea why.
I was talking to my other collecting friend and he received some poppage with this set. I congratulated him on getting them in slabs with his grades and he did not even know that he got the grades yet, oops! What is more amazing is that he was busy visiting with both David Schultz (Dr. D) and Len Rossi and he got them graded by PSA during this time! How amazing is that? He was visiting the two guys at the same time that PSA was finalizing some poppage on cards they had never graded....anyways, I thought that was a cool coincidence that cannot happen very often at all. Amazing.

Bob was so excited to win the Shultz. One of the primary reasons is apparently Dr. D always kind of held it over his head that he had the card and Bob couldn't find one. He said he was going to tell him he had landed one. I am curious if he did and what the response was.
Also what is funny is I recorded a video of the cards after I opened them and had no clue who Len Rossi was. I flipped the card over and said wow he is a former tag team champion. He certainly doesn't look very tough here. LOL Apparently he was a huge star in the 60's in 70's in the area.
I would post the video to Youtube but it is side ways unfortunately.
Len Rossi is one of the names that I enjoy from the Rax Roast Beef set but as you say here, his hey day was just earlier than some of the other names in the set. Will you get the cards by Saturday so you can post the pics of the cards in slabs?

I sent them in obviously in two separate orders and they only got one shipped Thursday and the other today. The tracking says I should have the first batch Saturday. I plan to obviously scan the fronts and backs for the digital album so I will work on that next week probably and will add the scans to the thread.
I remembered I had an email from the PSA Set Registry manager and sent her one yesterday inquiring on the general turn around time for a set to be added. She said they are really backed up so it will be at least a month or more until it gets added. No exact time table.
These look great in the holder. I got my first batch back yesterday and the second one is coming Tuesday. Here is a pic I took of the original Midnight Express.

It has been great fun sharing them on the Memphis Wrestling page from Facebook where I was able to track them down. Scott has shared a few of the pics with the wrestlers and one guy this morning was losing his mind wanting to buy his.

Muffdaddy I sent the pic to Cornette on Twitter and he loved it. He re-tweeted it and my email was blowing up with notifications. I barely use Twitter but do like to send pics to the wrestlers and see if they respond. Jerry Lawler has twice which was cool.

Oh man! I used to love Rax! Little story about Rax. My wife and I, when we were dating, were on our way to Dayton, OH to see Bob Dylan in concert and heard that there was a Rax in a small town, a bit off the beaten path, but on the way. So we stopped and found that Rax was no longer there. Instead it was a pancake house called Stacks! Ha! The last Rax is in Harland, Kentucky. I only know this as we have family there and stopped there on the way back from our honeymoon 4 years ago. Our fam says it's still there.
I googled this because it seemed odd there would be only one left. It looks as though there are eight left FYI.

Why is the cover card not part of the set?
I am really not sure. When the set popped up after I requested it for some reason it wasn't included.
The person who graded the set is Bob from NY. The long time collector I purchased the 82A and 82 B uncut sheets from. He got the set for what I think is a great price from a major wrestling collector John who also lives in NY.
Very solid final price of $785. I had estimated I thought this would finish between $700 and $800 and personally I think that is a very strong price for cards that are in such poor condition.
When you do an SMR story you never know when it is coming out. I got a text from Rob that I saw at 3:30 AM that it was out and had a hard time going back to sleep. I decided to go out to the mail kiosk at 5:45 just to see if maybe the magazine was there and it was. I am really excited about this article. It really came out great!
