Agree, both for my Fugio above and a couple others. I have thought about resubmitting to one of the big-2 to get the 'correct' grade, but if this is recognized throughout the hobby then no need.

I don't know if it generally known, I only know because I had a long talk with them
ANACS in the ANA days was very technical based on the (then recently) published ANA grading standards.
Grading became more and more market-driven (like all TPGs do today) during the Amos and Anderson ownership. Then fell into the swirling porcelain throne during the blue-label days.

Can you get a better angle on that chain cent to show some detail, or is it totally just a smooth copper disc?
It's a Draped Bust. The coin doesn't look much better in-hand. You can just about make out the date. Pictures wouldn't help you from where you sit. Your description is accurate, a smooth copper disc. Maybe even a copper slug. 😂

According to the bar code (v2), the draped bust cent is NOT net-graded!
The cert# on the 1909SVDB is type 1, and places the coin it the first waves of grading after Amos Press (then owners of ANACS) stopped using the 2 letter/4 number grades. They started with the prefixes (0, 7, 22) that were not part of the XX to numeric conversion.

My beloved Fugio .. undergraded if you ask me (aren't they all, when it's your coin)
This thread is over 8 years old and I still collect these old holders.
I have over 150 of them and still like how they tone the Morgans.

It's a shame that CAC doesn't sticker ANACS. Some very nice coins in these holders IMO.

One thing that I have found is that ANACS, especially in the old holders was very conservative in their grading.
In some instances, they are still very conservative graders.
I mentioned it to them at an ANA show a few years ago, and they agreed, and said to tell others that.
To the extreme, I had two Barber quarters that were easy AG-03, or near 4's and they came back as 02. In that instance they were ridiculous.

I may try to cross (if ANACS is accepted as a cross) to one of the "majors" with a minimum, but I prefer the old small white holders.
ANACS in the ANA days was very technical based on the (then recently) published ANA grading standards.
Grading became more and more market-driven (like all TPGs do today) during the Amos and Anderson ownership. Then fell into the swirling porcelain throne during the blue-label days.

Someday I'll remember the URL for the later version of the page that includes v3.
