How was this wax pack graded an 8?

Could it have torn after encapsulation? If so, how?

The tears happened post grading. The loose gum moves around within the pack and the sharp gum corners tear the wrapper.

There is a 1971 pack on eBay thay got pretty much destroyed after stabbing. Really sad. I had something similar happen to me with a PSA 9 high number 1972 pack. I have a 1976 OPC pack with a shard of gum sticking out. Ugh.

It's really bad with those early 4 pronged holders due
to all the empty space around the edges. The gum
just rips right through. There nothing to stop it.

It got much better with the newer holders which
hugged the pack all the way around.

I had a psa 10 pack one time with the same rips.
