I thought that would be the case based on your scans in the other thread. Congrats, they deserve those grades.

Thx homies. They were bought raw from Sean Bassik Cards.

  • Very nice! Nothing better than picking up something raw and turning into gold. That 78 in particular is a sharp card.

Those cards are razor sharp~I'm surprised an experienced collector like Sean didn't sub them himself. Grades are well deserved on those. The 78 Ryan was a pop 1 in PSA 10 last I checked and Hatch had gotten it. Congrats!

I was pretty relentless on Sean about selling them to me. He's also a friend and definitely hooked me up with a major solid. We all know that the best 9s and the 10s are the same cards with different good fortune on grading day. So while I am certain there are 9s of the 77 that are just as nice, I am also certain the 78 can hang with the lone 10.

for sure! look at that other 78 9 that memorylane (I think) has up! how that one got a 9, I have no clue!

Begsu you are spot on. Mem Lane seems to have the market on low-end 9s and 10s cornered, LOL.

I know, I was just mentioning what the pop is for a 78 10. The chances of you prying that 10 from Hatch might take 6 figures. No joke..

Edit to add: At least, LOL!!

Sometimes it is just as hard to get the grade the card deserves as it is to get the cards themselves. You managed both. Congratulations!

ha! seriously. not only that, the prices they are asking on them are insane as well. there's a 63 mantle that is barely a 9 that they are asking $10.5K....

These just popped. Here are the new grades and here are the old pictures...
Along with that 1976 Ryan 7 that became a 9, the Paige and Aaron RC half-grade bumps, and the Molitor RC that 10'd from a 9, and it's been a sick run lately!

Yup. When I believe in the card I gotta trust the old eyeballs. I sent a bunch of stuff in when I was trying to make a run at a Frederick Foto Ruth. I couldn't reel the Foto in but at least these resubs and raw subs are turning out sweet.

This is inspiring to me as I have a whole box of former G.O.D. casualties that I have been wanting to resub. The problem for me is I am afraid I will damage the cards in the crack-out process, so always end up sending for review, which doesn't go as well.

Very sharp Brett! Looks as nice as the few 9's I've seen. Good luck! And congrats on the Ryan's - huge hits.
