The guys hands are as big as my feet. Did he really need to pull a branch off a tree? A spanking wouldn't have sufficed?

  • I have to agree with this. I spent the day with my 4-year old granddaughter today and just can't imagine 1) whipping someone that small so hard and 2) how bad can a 4-year old be to deserve that type of punishment? And yes, I was spanked as a kid and I did spank my kids.

So what you're saying is, what might be right for you may not be right for some.

Not to come to the defense of the statement, but to believe that the words "thug" and "ghetto" are automatically terms for a certain race, at least to me, shows more of a racist innuendo than the person actually using the words to begin with. Kind of like when someone wants to cut food stamps, some believe it to be a racist action, but arent they in saying that, implying that only minorities use them and need the help, thereby implying that they are weaker?

Race should never enter into a conversation about child abuse, but there is some logic behind the fact that the great majority of NFL incidents like this are by minorities and if thats the case, then perhaps when Peterson says he was brought up that way, he has some credence to his excuse as to why he did it BECAUSE of the race/environment he was brought up around

The NFL has an image problem and the media will not relent until the season is over. This is bad.

Wow, did he go overboard. I remember my grandmother lighting us up with a switch, but that was in the 70's and nothing like that.

    I agree with you.

Just think people will scream for his resignation soon regardless.

Vikes reinstated AP and say he'll play this week.

No surprise. The difference between an All Pro running back who means the difference between wins and losses (AP) and a running back already in decline (Rice).

I believe they had no choice but to reinstate him. Gonna be legal trouble either way. Damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Not reinstating him would probably incur the wrath of NLFPA union lawyers. I'm a bit surprised they haven't tried to get Ray Rice reinstated, although perhaps they are behind his appeal he is supposed to file today.

And yes, as fergie23 pointed out, AP is a lot bigger star than Rice. AP is literally one of the faces of the NFL. His picture supposedly adorned the game day magazine and season ticket for the Vikes home opener vs the Patriots. He's been on the front of Football card boxes/packs (2013 Topps FB, for example). Just a couple of examples.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out, both in court and within the NFL and Vikings front offices.

The Vikings could deactivate him and pay him if they wanted without incurring the wrath of the NFLPA. There are no lawsuits involved with deactivating players.

He will undoubtedly plea out to some lesser charge after the season ends with a few hours community service and some parenting lessons. Then the Vikings will announce how sorry he is and suspend him for a couple preseason games next year. The NFL will then say they are leaving discipline to the team in this case and that everyone has learned a valuable lesson. I will be shocked if he misses more than 2 games due to team or league imposed suspensions going forward. Unless of course a video is unearthed of him beating...sorry disciplining his 4 year old with a bloody switch as he cries with blood running down his legs. I was raised to fear the belt (and big ass wooden spoon) but my father was 5-8 160 not 6-1 220 with 5% body fat.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying that they'll have theirs, you'll have yours and I'll have mine? And that together we'll be fine?

I just want to make sure we're on the same page.
  • In a strange way, this may work out for the Vikings. There were many rumors of trading AP or releasing him due to his age and salary. This may have made it easier for them to do just that.

Instead, the decided to reinstate him for this weekend.... hours before new charges surface.

I think Cassell's 4 INTs had more to do with AP being reinstated. I think he will be suspended with pay before the weekend games roll around.

I don't track any of his cards, but are they taking a hit similar to RG3 or Rice?

Bud and Radisson are starting to make noise. The NFL may not have a heart when it comes to these issues, but they do care about money. AP will be taking another week, possible year off. Keep Asiata for now!

  • After this guys conviction takes place he will never play again in the NFL..... No way does he escape a convictionon child abuse charges, he will probably do some prison time , his cards are toast just like Ray Rice. Don't they give these NFL players a class on how to handle themselves on the first days? Idiots
  • Also why is this guy getting paid $695,000.00 A WEEK after badly injuring someone? That I do not understand! This guy is guilty, a true idiot to father children with multiple women is his number 1 problem!
  • gregmo32gregmo32 Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭
I would think his number one problem would be his tendency to physically abuse very small human beings.

I know his lawyer successfully defended Roger Clemens, but I don't see how the statement AP released helped his cause. Basically he says that these types of beatings are what made him the man he is today......a child abuser.

No offense to his dad's parenting skills, but his dad spent time in jail for money laundering associated with cocaine dealing. Not exactly Mike Brady.
