Another NFL RB is in trouble. I'm glad I sold out of his RCs during the 2000 yard season. Football RB rookies are like Krispy Kreme stock - sell it while it's hot!
UPDATE - Looks like he was indicted for spanking his son with a switch.
Apparently used a switch on the kid. Well, looking back on it, I used have to get my Mom a hickory switch that she could use on me. Either that or the leather belt. Got her point across. Granted it's all in how you do it. Different times, different rules I reckon..
<< <i>AP Football RB rookies are like Krispy Kreme stock - sell it while it's hot! >>
I can't think of a worse analogy...KKD is a screaming buy - no debt ($40mm cash), share buyback in process, 10% more stores by end of 2015, 22% quarterly sales growth just announced, $5.8mm quarterly profit and rallied on this 'bad' news. If KKD does not get bought out in the next couple years, I predict it will trade MUCH higher then todays $17.52 close. Plus, the product is soooo yummy! I welcome you to short it. >>
Facts are not out there yet, but something about ”reckless” behavior and ”causing injury to a child.”
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy! Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

He was just deactivated by the Vikes. I do not see how this can end well for AP in light of the Ray Rice debacle. The NFL has pictures and obviously child abuse is just as bad (if not worse) than spousal abuse. It would not shock for AP to be suspended the rest of the year.
<< <i>Adrian Peterson should get kicked out of the league immediately. >>
I was raised with spankings and belts, but none ever left marks like those shown on TMZ. I don't think the league needs to do anything, since it's likely no team will pick him up after the Vikings drop him. The deactivation was the first step and a reasonable compromise until all the facts are known.
There's also a difference between corporal punishment done out of genuine concern for right and wrong (like say, if someone like Andy Griffith or Jesse Duke did so) versus using it as some kind of power trip.
A lot of fantasy owners just added a middle name to AP. You &*%$@.

Recent events with Rice and Now AP got me thinking about how many of our beloved heroes from before the age of technology might have committed the same type of things and nobody knew about it....
These Sports "Heroes" are just people and you never know what People do behind closed doors
Color me quite disillusioned by this news, to say the least. I first heard it was due to him spanking one of his children, but didn't hear or see any other details. So I was thinking, hold on, let's let people parent their children as they see fit without calling it a crime. Then I saw a pic through one of the links posted in this thread. That looks to have gone far over the line from discipline and is another matter entirely, a criminal matter. Especially coming off the Ray Rice mess, it will be interesting to see what happens to him. Unlike Rice, AP has been among the biggest stars in the NFL for years, not just among RBs. This feels like a lot bigger name that has come crashing down.
Prior to this event, I had considered AP probably my favorite player in the league. Anyone who knows me knows that I pretty much only collect football (except for some baseball from the 70s and 80s I've had since childhood). And I like to collect running backs. My all-time favorite is Walter Payton and AP seemed to emulate Payton's never-give-up approach to unning the ball. I have many AP cards, although I don't have a lot of money sunk into them (thank goodness). Ironically, it was not that long ago I was studying his higher-dollar cards and considering a purchase. Glad now that I did not go that route.

I was thinking that very same thing as I was driving home today and hearing the news about AP.
if the vikes drop him, jerry jones will sign him unless he's indefinitely suspended by the league pending trial (seems unlikely, but who knows after this week)
i suspect this one draws out for a while without much action unless those photos start making the rounds - which they surely will, right? i'm a little surprised they didn't come up on sports center along with the story
<< <i>obviously child abuse is just as bad (if not worse) than spousal abuse. It would not shock for AP to be suspended the rest of the year. >>
I think child abuse is clearly perceived as being worse than spousal abuse. >>
Not to split hairs as I believe both are bad but there is a segment of people who believe children can and should be disciplined by their parents as the parents see fit. That does not make it right, of course, but there is a perception that maybe this is perhaps not as bad as cold c***ing your wife. I personally don't buy it but it certainly has an under current here.
With the above said, I do not condone what I understand to have happened and again believe AP is facing a long suspension (and given the backlash with Gordon, I think it at least has to be longer than whatever Gordons get reduced to).
Geez, we used to burn witches at the stake to in this country. Times have changed. This is a 4 year old child that is afraid of his father who from what I have heard beat him twice very hard in one week. One of his bruises was in his private parts. The last thing you want to teach a child is violence is the answer. He took it way to far and texted that he got him good this time. He has no excuse!
After seeing those photos, if indeed true, Peterson should be forever banned from the NFL! You have a guy banned for the whole year for smoking weed for god sakes!
There's also a difference between corporal punishment done out of genuine concern for right and wrong (like say, if someone like Andy Griffith or Jesse Duke did so) versus using it as some kind of power trip.
Mr. Drummond never laid a hand on his kids and they all turned out fine.... Except for Todd Bridges and Dana Plato. And maybe Sam, I'm not really sure where he ended up. The point is, Arnold and Dudley never should've been in Mr. Carlson's bike shop alone in the first place. Wait, what were we talking about?
<< <i> And maybe Sam, I'm not really sure where he ended up. >>
He got kidnapped and was made to stay with that family whose son had died. Maybe if Mr Drummond and Dixie Carter had given him a little more discipline, this would have never happened.
These guys are not Law Enforcement, so why do they need to be held to a higher standard?
Its a general question that Im asking, Im not saying Rice and Peterson dont deserve what they get but I want to know what fuels the anger at these guys more so than other well known figures in the spotlight.
Another interesting irony here is the number of times I can recall an athlete getting in trouble for whatever and then getting off without any or little punishment from whichever law enforcement agency they were dealing with and then having internet message boards filled with posts like "If that were me, I would have never gotten off"
Now, in this instance, a player is accused of something (Although the photos do look incriminating), and he is suspended from his job and if it turns out to be true, very likely "fired" and blackballed from being able to get more work. Most of us, if we were to have been incriminated of the same issue, would not have gotten suspended, fired or released from our job and in many cases, even if we were convicted. I doubt we will see those same posts stating "If that were me, I wouldnt have been fired"
Its all irrelevant to some point because part of the NFL, or any other sport league, makes a lot of money off the images of the "employees" which work within their field of employment, so it may be different here, but it is ironic.
Suddenly guys like Terrell Owens and Randy Moss, with all their well publicized baggage while they were playing, aren't looking like such bad guys after all.
What makes AP's case even more ironic is that he lost a 2 yr old son who was abused by his baby mama's boyfriend.
From a card point of view, it looks like most of his raw NFL serial #'d auto rookies sold in the $100-$175 range on ebay before Sept 12. If this blows up, it could get ugly. I see that 2008 Topps Chrome Ray Rice Auto BGS 9.5 sold for $20.50 recently and a raw copy went for $15. I believe that was a $60+ card before the left hook.
Suddenly guys like Terrell Owens and Randy Moss, with all their well publicized baggage while they were playing, aren't looking like such bad guys after all.
Everybody's got a special kind of story. Everybody finds a way to shine.
<< <i>Suddenly guys like Terrell Owens and Randy Moss, with all their well publicized baggage while they were playing, aren't looking like such bad guys after all. >>
I always thought Randy Moss got a bad rap. I was surprised how quickly his production fell off. He had 83/1264/13 TDs in 2009 and then in 2010 28/393/5 while playing in all 16 games.
I'd be incredibly surprised if he played another down this year and wouldn't be shocked if he gets the Ray Rice indefinite suspension since the precedent has been set. As abhorrent as striking a woman is, doing what Peterson has admitted to doing to law enforcement against his 4 year old child is reprehensible.

I have to agree with this. I spent the day with my 4-year old granddaughter today and just can't imagine 1) whipping someone that small so hard and 2) how bad can a 4-year old be to deserve that type of punishment? And yes, I was spanked as a kid and I did spank my kids.
