Lol sale doesn't look so bad compared to these other guys. Though in Sherman's defense, he had a lot of painting he had to get back to. I've heard Russell Wilson has a bad one, basically R-squiggle
Vernand Morency had a pretty disappointing autograph. Can't remember how many I pulled out of the 1995 Reflections Football, but it was always a bummer. Why can't they all have signatures like Mariano Rivera?
I have often thought about this question, and for me the answer is Patrick O'Sullivan. It is random scribbles that have probably never appeared the same way twice, sometimes not even remotely similar from one to another. It therefore may be either the easiest or toughest signature to authenticate, not sure which. Take for example his BAP RC BAP RC. Here's a bunch that you'd think would look at least a little bit like each other, but talk about phoning it in. My kids have more consistent signatures and they are all in single digits in age.
Pat Ewing's newer sig is pretty lazy too. I like all just about all of Mattingly's signature variations, but he wasn't feelin' it on this particular day.

Lol that is hilarious Almost like he forgets his name
Vernand Morency at least made a V. Chris Rainey though... There is NO WAY a 3rd party authenticator would know any more about those two than you or I!

Wow that is REALLY lame! Picture some kid waiting in line for this guy's auto and finally gets him to sign. Kid is gonna wonder if the guy was mad at him or something.
When identity theft started to become epidemic at the end of the 1990s sports agents started warning players about the danger of autographs and using "real signatures" that could be used for ID theft purposes. What I heard (former NFL player) was that it was recommended that when signing autographs the players should not use the same signature as they would sign documents or checks.
Of course, with the rise of electronic devices and the fact that penmanship is not even taught in most schools any more, the problem appears to have taken care of itself. I honestly believe that there are people (not just players) that just don't know how to write properly because they haven't had to do it like those of us old farts.

The pix are on my other computer but I have photographic proof of the de-evolution of Cam Neely's autograph. I have one from 1990 where you can clearly read 'Cam Neely'. Got one a couple months ago and unless I saw him sign it, I wouldn't know his from someone who was practicing just their 'C' and 'Y'.

I don't know, I think he at least gets credit for consistency. The ones that look different every time they sign bother me a bit more than Vernand's.

Winner. End of contest. All the rest are contending for 2nd place.
The card he signed was even worse. I submitted it for the blue flip group sub. I'm very curious to see if they authenticate it.
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.
