The 10 coins I want to see before I die...
Post a list of the 10 coins you want to see before you die. Things you have yet to see in person, and that you know to exist.
I'll start with a few of my own, and add some more later.
1. Garrett's gem red Birch Cent.
2. The 1849 Templeton Reid $25, stolen from the US Mint Collection in 1858 and probably still in existence somewhere.
3. 1849 $20 in Brass, last seen in the April 1892 New York Coin and Stamp sale auction of the George W. Woodside collection.

I own a Classic Half Cent in MS 65 RB, and a toned 1861 O Half in MS 65.

Me too, i would be 99. Any ol' 2050 coin would do. I really do not believe that the cent will be around that long though, except maybe in collector set issues.

I fear that the Reid $25 got melted down as scrap long ago.
I want to see the complete 1870-S set from the cornerstone of the SF Mint, including the quarter and the other half dime and $3.
<< <i>Which two coins would you like resting on your eyes when you die? >>
Personally no coins. I want to see where I'm going.
it will they make any coins at all?
And will I be living in those days? Will anyone still be alive?
As far as existing Coins......
silly rabbit coins are for .....

I agree with the captain. I think that the Templeton Reid $25 was melted soon after it was stolen.
Here are my first five ...
1) a mint state strawberry leaf cent
2) the unique 1873-S seated dollar that probably got sent to the Assay Commission and is somewhere ...
3) An 1841-O half eagle (I bet they're buried in a can somewhere)
4) An 1870-S quarter (cornerstone of the granite Lady?)
5) An 1873-S half dollar (one circulated specimen was rumored to exist, rumor reported by Breen)
Sunnywood's Rainbow-Toned Morgans (Retired)
Sunnywood's Barber Quarters (Retired)
1. Boiler78's collection
2. Bill Jones' collection
3. TDN's collection
4. The Dirty Gold Collection
And, I wouldn't mind hearing the stories behind those collections as well.
TDN's 1794 Dollar -although I saw it a long time ago
The specimen 1793 chain cent
1804 Dollar PR68
1870-CC quarter MS64
Eliasberg 1818 Half Eagle. MS67?
1794 Half MS64
Pittman 1833 Half Eagle PR67
1856-O Presentation 63 twenty
1901-S Barber Quarter 67 (sunnywood's)
If you have been to the Smithsonian, then that will narrow down your list pretty quickly. If I hadn't, most of my list would have been from the Smithsonian.

but it has to be in the bottom of a metal detecting hole I just dug.
Not that I would turn down seeing any of the others posted in this thread.
My world and ancient coin list would be too long to compress into 10.
For major rarities I have gotten to see this one:

I have three coins in my bucket list, but I'm still at the age where seeing any original Gem Bust Dollar or Bust Gold excites me.
The three specific coins are:
Childs 1804 Dollar
J-1776
"The Coin"
In addition, I would love to see the Copper 1794 dollar again in hand. That is my single favorite coin I have ever seen or held, and would accept that coin if I had my choice of any in existence.

Tom - Is that fear based on anything more than the fact that the coin has yet to surface?

No, that's exactly it.
