Need your Opinion...

Need your opinion to benefit a friend. I told a friend recently that he needs to be a PCGS member in order to have his coins graded. He plans to attend the ANA coin show in Chicago this August but is Not currently a member of PCGS or the one ATS. Can i be wrong by any chance and he can buy the gold Kennedy and just walk on to the PCGS table and pay the grading fee and have his coins graded? Or can he use someone else PCGS membership ID when submitting his coins for grading even if the member is not present with him? Does PCGS check your ID at the show when submitting coins to be graded to confirm that it is really you submitting these coins? Need your input. Thanks in advance. image

Top submit to PCGS you must be a member. I'm sure he could sign up there if he wanted to. His other option would be to go through a member dealer

Just have him join at the booth. It's like $50 and then he can submit directly. He cannot use another
members ID. They may not look at his ID when submitting but will when he picks them up (I think this
    is correct as I recall).

When I had my collection graded I submitted the coins through a trusted dealer. But if he wants to play the "golden Kennedy" game at the show, he will have to pony up for a membership.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
