Here is a 1913 half eagle in MS-64. This $5 Indian is toughest coin by far in the eight piece gold type set in Choice (MS-64) to Gem (MS-65 or better) Uncirculated.
And here is an 1882 Type III gold dollar. The gold dollars from the 1880s hardly circulated, and the survival rates were high relative to their mintage. The mintages were small and this dies didn't get enough use to dull and tired coins. So nicely preserved examples really like nice. Teddy Roosevelt had a lot of negative things to say about the designs that appeared on U.S. coins, but this was one he liked.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Here's one for the mix. Have some others, including a $10. This is the only one that I have a photo handy of though. Some of my favorite designs featured and nice coins! [/URL]
