The Iraq of today is what the Ukraine of a decade from now will be

Check Kitco, both gold and silver turned around in the last few days; it was a direct effect of the ISIS takeovers in Iraq.

That and we don't have a precious petroleum forum.......yet.

The turn around began before the publicized issues in Iraq. Since the media got hold of the issue, it has moved gold & silver up less than 5%....no biggy.
Gulf War 3.0
Who would have thunk it... The USA, Iran and Syria are all united against these ISIS people. Guess Assad will be around a while longer since he is the lesser of two evils.
Iraq is an important oil producer. I would expect at least Iran type sanctions.
....eh, maybe not.
All hat and no cattle....
Obvious that the U.S. has no money to keep fighting a war in the Middle East. If ISIS becomes a threat to the U.S. would we use tactical nuclear weapons to target the threat. Drones will not do the job. The military already accepts civilian casualties with the drone strikes. My guess is we would use these weapons once a nuclear device is detonated in the U.S. because Pandora's box would have been opened. Tactical Nuclear Weapons are different than Strategic Nuclear Weapons. BTW such a scenario does not end well for anyone.
As far as the NSA spying on U.S. citizens and the world I would like to say you have my blessing if it has a chance of stopping a nuclear weapon from being detonated in the U.S.

<< <i>It wont be long before we start non stop air strikes killing hundreds of these scumbags. >>
To which scumbags do you refer? The region is lousy with them, every direction you look.
Let Iran indulge in its own Viet Nam this time around (getting bogged down in Iraq and Syria), and let us be the ones for once to shake our heads with moral superiority at the folly of "imperialists."
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...

Honestly Im talking ALL OF THEM
And yes I would absolutely love to see Iran get bogged down in there, however air strikes from the US puts hardly any US sevicemen in harms way and we get to vaporize various types of varments

<< <i>This disaster (which was totally avoidable), was predictable a year ago. Baghdad is likely to fall within the next two to three weeks. Prices at the pump are already starting to rise.... This is a very sad state of affairs.... Cheers, RickO >>
Amazingly, it's Joe Biden's prediction from a decade ago, which appears to be coming true. The country is splitting into three countries along sectarian lines, with the Kurds in the north, Sunnis in the middle, and Shiites in the south. Baghdad is quite safe, and the big concern there is from car bombs (i.e. not being overrun by ISIS).
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
ISIS fighters trained by US troops?
they were calling them syrian rebels then
Israel getting hit by shells from Lebanon.
....as usual the markets take it all in stride. Guess that the world has gone to the brink and then returned so many times that the metals and equities yawn. With the stakes so I high, I hope that they are correct.
An interesting write up about what is going on in Iraq. House of Saud creates a Frankenstien monster in the middle east

<< <i>Civil war will result in Iraq being divided into three countries is my bet. >>
The way it probably should have been divided in the first place almost 100 years ago. Blame the old Colonial Powers in drawing up the borders and creating new Countries after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire.

House of Saud has created many monsters in the middle east and is not the US ally that many believe it to be. Look for Putin to court the Saudis and win their alligance adding more damage to the petrodollar.
