Ever have a coin that looks like a dog....

relicsncoinsrelicsncoins Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭✭✭
When trying to photo. it, but looks nice in person?

I can't shoot this coin, granted my skills are not great, but I can usually capture a somewhat accurate look. This coin not so much.

    More cowbell

    And light

The light you have seems too diffused.

Is it raw or in a holder? I'm not the best at coin photos, but for me I found that if the light is the most strong at 12:00 position I get the best image. On a slab it's easier
because you can see the reflection of the light source just above the coin.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    That's a teaser.
I can tell it's an awesome coin, despite your crappy pic. image

ANACS called this a proof on an ANACS photo certificate, and I tend to have problems with shooting proofs. I'm not so sure it's a proof.

Yummy coin. Get your lights high up at 10 and 2 put a paper-towel over them and have those lights as close to the lens as you can without being below the lens. This will give good coverage like um brain fart glass at 45deg light at side um well you get the point.

When the ATB Quarters series is completed look for yet another multiyear set to begin. It might very well be something
with the AKC. Don't put anything past the US Mint at this point. We may very well be on our way to having every breed of
    Dog on our Quarters.

Coins looking like a Dog? Give it time - it could happen.

Looks like the focal plane and the coin are a bit out of alignment leading to some unfocused areas. That coin would really glow with axial lighting I bet. for instance--

lost some definition somewhere in the process though image
