    Email came out today, yes.
Information about this came out at the PCGS Luncheon at FUN and was mentioned on the forums at that time.

Haven't seen one in hand yet, but should be interested....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

The 2013-D Lincoln Cent sample slabs they were giving away at Long Beach had this new hologram. There were a few other differences in the slab as well.

There are two small holes that look like dots in the label near the bottom of each corner in the label. They look like small dimples, but there is a tiny hole in them too.

There are also four sets of circles in the flat areas of the plastic around the coin... similar to what was on the old rattler slabs and 2-piece holders. The marks are not on the surface of either side of the holder but seem to be imbedded in the interior of the slab.

I do think it is odd that the hologram sticker is on the surface of the back of the slab and could presumably be damaged as folks toss slabs around and could even be peeled off. Seems like it would have been better to have it under the plastic and affixed to the back of the label itself.

Here's a pic of one with a few other samples I bought from one of the YNs doing the Long Beach Treasure Hunt...

Certainly a step in the right direction..... of course it will be good for a certain period of time until the counterfeiters duplicate it.... not easy, but the technology is not closely held..... I praise PCGS for their continuing efforts at prevention and security, but it is a never ending battle. Cheers, RickO

I wonder how closely they look at the old holder/coin before they put the coin into the new holder...

I think I figured out why it's done this way. If you look closely at the hologram it has a serial number on it. It can probably be used by PCGS to verify that the correct label is in the correct holder. With the hologram label on the plastic and not the label, it is not possible to move both of them to a fake holder containing the wrong coin. If the hologram were on the label, then it would be possible to remove the label and hologram together, undamaged. Also, notice the pins through the label in the lower corners. This prevents the label from being separated from the holder without destroying either the label or the holder.

So when will PCGS actually start using these holders? I assume immediately now that the email has gone out, but of course we all know what happens when one assumes!

Guess I wasn't present 3 weeks ago......glad you got a chance to double down on your '3 weeks ago' news.
I'm amazed at how some forum members hammer those that missed a piece of numismatic news that was already posted.
I just got the email today....I searched for 'Gold,' 'Shield,' 'DuPont,' etc. and came up with no results....Lord help me if
I should re-post old news.....I thought I did everything right....sometimes you cannot win on this forum.

Really excited to see one of these in hand. Sure hope some dealers at the ANA Atlanta show are packing.

I knew there was a reason that I have been procrastinating in submitting my next batch to our hosts.

...I noticed in an earlier thread that someone had a nice toned Lincoln proof in the new holder...it didn't seem to have the "PCGS" text on the opposite side of the new hologram (on reverse of slab) like it does on the samples and in the photos from the PCGS link on their site... I guess there will be more room for stickers image

Anyone know if these new stickers are still being used? I just got some graded coins back and they were all the older stickers. I do not mind, and I like the regular stickers just fine, but I am curious none the less.

I can't figure out when tey use them and when they do not.

I think, perhaps, the secure plus coins receive it.

the rest of the time, I'm not sure.

    Barndog was yours secure plus?

I sent in mine as a bulk submission so it probably makes sense that I would get the regular stickers.

I just got a 5 coin submission back, standard holder with the new stickers.

Too funny, I just checked my show labeled kennedy clad because I couldn't remember which sticker was used...then realized there are no stickers on any of them, no old sticker or new sticker...clad or gold image
