Long Beach show tomorrow..and no one talking about it

disappointing that there are no promoters, dealers, or collectors interested in talking about a show that is rivaled by few others. I planned on going even though it's a long, torturous,
three hour, bumper to bumper drive down the 405 on a work day...but with this group apathy...now not so sure.

Missed the last one. Bummed me out.
Looking forward to this one!
I am taking an older Library of Coins Indian head cent book with me- has nine super original XF coins within. I hope to add a few choice additions.

.....I heard from a certain photog, that they were dangerous, so no. They must have been pretty good though since one vest pocket dealer near us was seen licking his plate.

<< <i>Steveben...yep...chirps all around. Still managed to squeeze out a few comments. Well, I've been looking forward to going to this show for quite awhile so I will be there.

...suggestion...pay someone to drive your car...take a sleeping pill about 2 or 3 hours before you plan on leaving...have your driver drive though a Starbucks on arrival and drink a double-shot to bring you back

It seems a little slower than most were expecting. But...
In the 1980s through the 90s the show used to start off with a bang. Fevered pitch. But by Saturday I was dead.
Then somewhere around 10 years ago it began to start off slow and gain momentum throughout the show. And has done that ever sense.
These are just my observations, of course yours (or someone else's) might differ.

If you are anywhere near the coast, try taking PCH. That's the route I usually take, and from my experience, it's typically faster... plus the view is great
I just heard the donut shop that owns the giant donut on PCH in LB is closing, so the giant donut will be no more

what happened to the customer is always right? does every coin dealer have Aspergers or what?
In terms of coins, I didn't find much in the way of what I was looking for. I did buy a slightly better than average 1917 P Type I SLQ in PC 6 FH, to complete the memorial set of Type I SLQs in this grade for my father's birth year. I did see several others, which for various reasons, did not float my boat.
What I saw that I think is worth mentioning:
1) Unc. IHCs in various colors were available from many dealers
2) Circulated to AU Capped Bust Halves were readily available
3) Trade $s from MS 60 - MS 63 were readily available
4) Seated $s from mid grade VF through lower end Uncs were readily available
5) More RB and RD later date Large Cents were available. I also saw two 1857 Half Cents in MS 64 RB with stickers.
6) Stacks had the Miller Bust $ collection on display, but I didn't pay much attention to it, because usually, these kind of collections get hyped and bring insane money at auction
7) Rick Snow and Charmy's tables were busy
8) Some guy had four or five 1938 D Buffs in MS 67 holders, and four or five 1913 P Type I Buff in MS 65 holders, all at $150 each
9) I have been noticing more vendors selling old U.S. currency and various Chinese coins at the last few shows
10) Everything else which is normally plentiful at Long Beach was in abundance at this show
I was done walking the floor and looking at coins in 4 1/2 hours, and it would have been less if I didn't have to wait for my Heritage rep, who was insanely busy, as usual. I also was able to pick up several more demonetized Brasilian currency.
If I knew how the show would be beforehand, I probably would have given the show a miss.

<< <i>Went to the show Friday. Met up with and had a nice time talking with Scoobydeux. Showed my last batch of coins to my Heritage rep and are sending a few in for CAC stickers and one for an upgrade, the latter something I have not done in quite some time. Said hello to some other friends and familiar dealers.

That's is very accurate. I can personally say that 2, 9 and 10 are spot on. The number of Chinese coins and dealers at LB has increased dramatically in the last two/three years or so.
Trying to find pretty Bust Quarters and Dimes was impossible as usual but Bust Halves were available...
