Hope I don't get hooked on these 2 Feathers....

But, I'm afraid it may be too late.

What dates have 2 feather varieties?

crazyhounddog

That's a BEAUT!!!!! Way to go....

RichieURich

Close to half the set has 2 feather varieties available. You should check Ron Pope's book on Buffalo Nickels - The Abraded Die Varieties which has lists, pictures, rarity ratings, and values for 2-feather nickels and several other abraded die varieties.

I believe that is one of the better 2F dates, and aside from the weakness around LIBERTY, an entirely reasonable if not down right nice example of the date/MM

So is this a result of die polish like the 3-Leg Buffalo?

Really nice specimen.... Cheers, RickO

Yes it is an abraded die. I also like the die cracks showing the die was getting to it's last legs. edited to add can you get a pic of the mint mark looks like something is going on with it.

Exactly!

keets

that's a nice example of a better date/mm in the series, but I have never been much of a fan of abraded dies.

Not sure what the grade is on this one. I have Ron's price sheet from March 2013, he shows a $400 value on XF40, and $700 on AU50 for the 1920-S.

This looks like a strong coin to me, very nice pick. Congrats!

I don't get it, they all have two feathers. Fill me in, thank you.

Yes, they all have two feathers, but most have three. This one has one missing at the base of his head.
