2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver - Great Smoky Mountains National Park (TN)

I know you will be jumping on this coin if you are building the series.

Anyone picking one up because:

1. Silver spot is dropping and I get low mintage
2. popular park or park I have visited, may not buy any others
3. I wish I picked up Hawaii, not going to miss the boat again

I wonder what the mintage limit will be (bullion)? My guess, they raise to 50,000 each for 2014.

I'm going to try to save up to buy a monster box. Ideally, I'd like to buy a monster box of each issue but that would be quite expensive and it would really skew my asset allocation. I think with spot dropping, mintage will be lower, if anything.

  • I'm a little late to the party, but I'm going to try to collect the series.

This Tennessee coin is a beaut. Great imagery.

I like it, I am going to get probably three. I live in Tennessee and have been to the Smoky Mountains National Park many a times.

I bought my first NGC SP70 of the Ft McHenry. It is exceptional including the strike compared to a the raw SP I bought from the mint.

I will continue to "collect" the bullion version as I've done so in the past, regardless of the silver spot price.

There is still time to jump in and collect the full series. The 2013 are still available at
    little to no premium.

2010-2012 can be had, but at various premiums. But with the scope of the issue
it should average out nicely even if you have to pony up for a few

I am largely speaking of the bullion issue here. The collector versions are great as well and track the same
premiums as the bullion versions with a higher initial/overall cost.

    Here is the series:

    Year Jurisdiction Site Mintage
2010 -bullion sets can still be had for $800-$1000
    Arkansas Hot Springs 33,000
    Wyoming Yellowstone National Park 33,000
    California Yosemite National Park 33,000
Arizona Grand Canyon National Park 33,000
Oregon Mt. Hood National Forest 33,000
2011 largest mintages -bullion sets can still be had for $600-$650
Pennsylvania Gettysburg National Military Park 126,700
    Montana Glacier National Park 126,700
    Washington Olympic National Park 104,900
Mississippi Vicksburg National Military Park 58,100
Oklahoma Chickasaw National Recreation Area 48,700
2012 - most expensive across the board - all are rising - Denali and Hawaii are $300+
Puerto Rico El Yunque National Forest 24,000
New Mexico Chaco Culture National Historical Park 24,400
    Maine Acadia National Park 25,400

I'm a fan of the series so I got a subscription for two of each issue...one for me and one to deal. Nice Pucks! The problem I see is having these stacks of 5 ozers someplace is that it is going to be a lot of metal over time. It would be nicest if you could display them, kind of like the old dinner plate racks people used to use but there are some obvious problems with that approach.
