I can't match your Barber quarter find, but today at the hospital cafeteria, I received in change an 1881 Indidan head cent, that I would grade G to VG, decent color and condition.
I suspect someone found a small number of coin in grandma's sugar bowl, wrapped them up in rolls and took to the bank, or something like that.
First time I ever got an Indian head cent in circulation. Made my day!
When I was a kid, you used to be able to find stuff like that from time to time. In 1980, when silver was approaching $50 an ounce, I unloaded all of it. It included a dollar or so face in well worn Barber coinage, a few Liberty Nickels and four or five IHCs.
"Vou invadir o Nordeste, "Seu cabra da peste, "Sou Mangueira......."
