I picked this up at the San Antonio, TX show yesterday for $4.00. I've always wanted to see a 'real' one! I wonder how many times it was successfully passed...

I always wanted to locate one myself, especially with the Reeded edge.

Great buy! The reeded edge is the key. It is hard to argue that this is not a racketeer nickel when it has the reeded edge. The gold coating does not mean much. It could have done in 1883 or 2013.

Thanks, everyone. I actually know the dealer I bought it from. He saw that I had set it aside and asked what it was (he knows I cherrypick). I told him, and he said he really didn't care- it was just damaged junk to him...
