Yes, real dollars. No, not from a real bank. Made up drivel.

I didn't think you could make the buyer pay for insurance. I was under the impression, maybe wrongly, that insurance is to protect
the seller and the buyer is protected by Ebay and therefore, the seller buys his own insurance?

"The winning bidder to pay $55 for insured registered shipping."
  • a seller can carge what ever they want for shipping and handling.

    That is wrong.

    eBay Selling practices policy
    Shipping and handling costs

    What you can charge:

Actual shipping cost: This is the amount for shipping the item. It should be what you paid the carrier.
Handling cost: This can include the cost of packaging materials and insurance cost, if any.
Delivery Confirmation and extra services: If you choose to use these options, you must add them to your shipping and handling costs, and you can only charge what they actually cost. Examples of services include:

    Certificate of Mailing
    Certified Mail
    Collect on Delivery
Delivery Confirmation - free with Priority Mail and discounted with some other services when you print shipping labels on eBay
    Registered Mail
    Restricted Delivery
    Return Receipt
    Signature Confirmation
    Special Handling

Tax and government imposed fees: Only applicable federal, state, country, city, Value Added Tax (VAT), or equivalent taxes may be charged.

The quote "A fool and his money are soon parted" comes to mind.

That's the most expensive wrapping paper I've ever seen.

Reminds me of the other timeless classic: "BUY THE COIN, NOT THE HOLDER."

"He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver, nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity.
When goods increase, they increase who eat them -- so what profit have the owners, except to see them with their eyes?"
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.
For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil."
"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me."

Thanks for the information. I was unaware that you could make the buyer pay for the seller's insurance. The insurance listed above is still to protect the seller, is it not?
The buyer appears to only be covered by eBay Buyer Protection. I could be wrong. I just want to understand the policy a little better and I did not intend to hijack the thread.
    My apologies.

We don't offer an insurance program. However, if you don't receive an item you paid for, you can receive a refund of the purchase price plus original shipping on eligible purchases through eBay Buyer Protection.

If you didn't receive an item you paid for, open a case in the Resolution Center. We'll ask you a few questions and then contact the seller. If the seller doesn't make things right, we'll review the case. If you didn't receive an item you paid for, you'll usually receive a refund plus original shipping costs.

As for the item being offered, I'll pass. Ebay is becoming more of a schemer's paradise.

That's okay. eBay is so heavily skewed towards buyers it's not surprising it would seem unlikely to be so. But it is.

<< <i>The insurance listed above is still to protect the seller, is it not? >>

    Of course it is.

that is not correct. it is against ebay policy to charge an exorbitant amount for shipping. i'm not saying this qualifies but there is a policy against overcharging.

well, in all actuality, yes they can post it and charge it but it is in violation. also a buyer can pay it and a transaction complete positively.

Legitimate in as much as the competition is stiff. Legitimate in the sense that people are getting a roll of silver dollars. Put together rolls are absolutely legitimate, possible and unless it's opened, I wouldn't know what else to call it except risky.

You have to admit that they did a nice job of aging the paper on the roll. image

But no, given the look of the end of the roll coins, which should be darker IMO, I'd say that this is a fabrication.
