What's the latest on the Pan-Pac 100 year? Is it too late? Was it killed by Congress inaction?

I am not a modern person or commem person at all but there is one thing on the list I might convince myself to do a short term investment with...aka FLIP. I might try to flip one or two sets and then keep one set, allowing the flip(s) to help pay for or at least cut my original cost to a reasonable, possible melt, level.

Congress running amok in a frenzied, out-of-control and an unrestrained manner.

Gee whiz !!!, I can get some coins minted by legislation? Cool!

The Baseball and the USMS could be cool.

Really interested in the PanPacs which have been discussed in the past.

Thanks for the Pan-Pac link. I still don't see how they are going to squeeze the details of the $50 slugs into $5 coins. They are going to have to use far greater (i.e. miniscule) details and relief in the die engraving than is typical for moderns or the details will be so washed out as to be unidentifiable. I mean, really, can anyone imagine the 8 stylized dolphins on a $5 coin? They will require a magnifier just to find them, let alone identify what they are...

The mint is becoming a bauble provider.... although, I might get the baseball coin... not a fan (of any ball sport), but it will be unique.... Cheers, RickO

The celebration of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?

I think that my string of consecutive modern commemorative coins might be coming to an end. That was the act that give us hiring and promotion quotas and special privileges for certain groups and genders.

The late Hubert Humphrey said during the debate on the proposal, "If this bill results in quotas, I'll eat it." Bon appétit , Hubert. I hope that you liked the taste of paper.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It's become clear that the US Mint doesn't make collectible coins for coin collectors.

    How bizarre is that?

We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

Yeah that is a somewhat sad list IMO...better to not produce anything at all than grasp at air for ideas. But of course I will buy them just to keep my collection current! ;(

Personally for me, these modern commemoratives do nothing for me:"

I like old holders in NGC or PCGS. If I can find someone selling an early holdrer, I make a bid.
