My Chrome football draft spots didn't work out as well as I hoped. Bjoern Werner not only didn't yield an auto, he doesn't appear to have gotten any colored refractors in the break (70 boxes) either. My best hit was probably the Carson Palmer gold refractor /50. It's certainly nothing disastrous for break results. I have a couple hundred cards coming, mostly rookies.

I received my redemptions from my first Dominion break - Sami Vatanen Autograph Patches Rookie and Sami Vatanen Rookie Patch Autograph. One is /99 and the other is /299. He's a good prospect and a scoring defenseman, so not a bad guy to end up with. My team there was the Ducks.

I actually went back over the recap videos from the Chrome breaks, and I appear to have ended up with 20 colored refractors (and blue waves weren't shown for 22 boxes, so I might have 1 or 2 more). 20 was my projection for a solid break, so I did fine in the non-auto department. Werner was a disappointment, but I made the logical call there. I did make one mistake later in selections - I had set a preference list for picks 141 and 142 because I would be unable to live draft when my turn came up for those. Sharrif Floyd and Kevin Minter were at the top of the list, and those were the two I got. Floyd I ranked properly, though he only yielded one colored refractor. Minter was a mistake to rank that high - there were several guys I ranked below him who I should have ranked above him based on player quality (one of whom I got later and who yielded a lot of color). As it turned out, one of the guys I should have ranked ahead of him, Desmond Trufant (started as a rookie 1st round CB) yielded a red refractor /25 among other colored refractors. I need to be more careful with ranking lists.
Funny note on this break - I took Antonio Gates late, and did fine with that pick. The next pick was Hakeem Nicks, who yielded no color at all for me in a 20-case player auction. Nicks yielded 3 color, including a gold /50, here.

Won a team in a 3-box 2013 Prizm basketball break for under $6.50, including shipping. Got a bunch of base cards and some HRX. Not sure if I got any rookies, and definitely no hits. Not a great result, but not that much money involved.
Meanwhile, I had a brain freeze and forgot to come back and put bids in on some slots in the 20-case player auction on Blowout before it closed. A whole bunch of base slots went off at $5 each that I would have bid on (not sure whether I would have been outbid after my bids went in, but I might have gotten some) Considering how many base cards are in 20 cases, the winner on those got steals even if there are no parallels on the player.

  • I won an affordable auto spot for a PC player but missed on the three I felt are the shortprints. I ended up logging in about 15 minutes after the deadline.

My other break result from Dominion hockey arrived - Mammoth jersey /50 (silver version, which I think is a parallel) of Jonas Brodin (Minnesota Wild). Great looking card.

I bought into 3 breaks yesterday that happened today (1 team in Triple Threads FB, 3 teams in Elite Extra Edition BB, and 1 team in Bowman Sterling BB). I had a very strong team in Triple Threads, but only got a base card. Meanwhile, a 1/1 booklet with relics and autos of 6 top-tier HOFers was pulled. I think it's going to ebay and the proceeds split equally among the owners of the 6 teams.
I had a very strong team in Bowman Sterling, and was expecting about 3 autos on average. I got 4 (2 redemptions of the same player included). I killed it there, mainly because of how low the price was.
I had 3 reasonably strong teams in Elite - one got 2 autos, and the others got 1 auto each (1 was a die-cut auto #/25). I'm sure I have base cards too, but the breaker didn't go through those.
8 autos, less than $60 total spent. I'll take it.

Meanwhile, I bought a couple base spots from someone in the Contenders break I spaced on.

I also have a spot I won (in a contest) in a hit draft from a baseball product. The random hasn't been conducted yet. Wherever I get, I'll be happy.

I finally went through the cards from my first Bowman Draft auction. Now I just need to start sorting base sets.
The Braves yielded me 19 base Chrome cards (incl. 2 Gattis), an orange Manwaring /250, an Andruw Jones rookie reprint, and 2 Breakout inserts of Drury. An OK result for $10.

One of the 2 veteran players I bought from the Contenders auction has yielded a Playoff Ticket /99 parallel (through 5 of the 20 cases so far). image

I also bought a fairly strong team in an 8-box Dominion break for $40. Break hasn't happened yet.

I got a decent spot in the random from the 2010 USA baseball hit draft - 63 of 132. That break hasn't happened yet either.

The big news for me is that Panini just had signing sessions with several top rookies at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, so I'm expecting my Denard Robinson, Le'Veon Bell, and Justin Hunter redemptions to be filled shortly. image

I bought a decent team in a 2-case non-auto (rookie autos were sold as separate spots; I get everything else from the team) ebay break of 2013 Topps Chrome FB for $17.01 including shipping. I believe I only got 1 colored refractor (a black #/299), but I got a rookie insert parallel #/99, plus regular inserts, refractors, and base cards (and it's a rookie-heavy team). I'm happy.

I traded my spot in the 2010 USA Baseball draft break (#63) for three lower spots (#88,119,122). Under the circumstances, I'll take a lesser name auto and 2 relic cards rather than an auto that's hotter right now.

The Contenders auction ended up great for me. One of the players had a Cracked Ice /21 and 2 Playoff Tickets /99, while the other had a Cracked Ice /21. There are a couple hundred base cards coming too, and the base cards alone are worth the spot prices.

My Dominion break happened. I'm kicking myself now for not also snatching up another team that was a pretty good deal, as that team ended up with 6 hits! I did just fine with my team - 2 hits (I believe both are rookie patch autos /299) and a base card /299.

I also bought 2 teams in a 6-box Select football break (one very strong and one mediocre) at good prices, plus a mediocre team in a 5-box 2013 Elite Extra Edition baseball break. The baseball yielded a die-cut auto /100 plus base cards, while the weaker football team yielded a refractor and the stronger team yielded 2 rookie refractors and 2 rookie autos (one /499 and one refractor /199) plus a bunch of base cards from both. I'm not very pleased with Select as a product - at its sales price and 4 autos a box, there are far too many weak autos in the checklist. Overall I did fine in the breaks.

I went through the Prizm basketball cards. 4 of the Plumlee HRX insert and 8 base cards. Ehhh.

My 2010 USA baseball picks are done - I took a Chris Chinea auto at #88 (still in college), a Tyler Anderson triple relic at #119 (Rockies pitching prospect), and a base set at #122. That was a contest win.

Meanwhile, I bought 38 veterans and one Draft Class slot from a 3-case 2013 Playoff Contenders football break on ebay, most at 99 cents each. I'm hoping for about 4-5 Playoff Tickets and 1 Cracked Ice out of the bunch, but the base card lots alone are worth what I paid. That break is happening now, but I'll watch a recap video rather than spend hours watching it live.

Bought 3 fairly good teams in a 9-box ebay break of 2013 Triple Threads baseball. One got skunked. A second got a very nice relic hit and several base cards and went into 2 randoms (winning 1 for a very nice triple relic card), while the third got a very nice auto relic and went into a random (losing it). I'm very happy with the results.

Bought a fairly strong team in an 8-box ebay break of 2013 Certified football. Got a relic and base cards. Disappointing result, but I had paid well below expected value for the team, so it's not awful. It was a really weak break overall in value for many teams - lots of the hits were lower-tier.

Bought a fairly strong team in a 3-box ebay break of 2013 Triple Threads football. Overpaid a bit by my expectation of value, but it worked out. Got an auto relic, a numbered parallel, and 2 base cards. I'm very happy. But I really need to avoid this set in the future for anything under 9-box breaks.

Watched the recap videos of the 3-case Contenders break. I hit a Cracked Ice /21 and 4 Playoff Tickets /99 among my 38 veteran players and 1 insert spot, so it worked out nicely for me. Most players cost me a dollar, and I'm getting big stacks of base cards. Somebody else got, from a spot that apparently cost him $12.50, the Adrian Peterson Golden Ticket!

Bought a tea with good rookie value in an ebay 3-box break of 2013 Prizm football and 2 teams which went cheaper than I thought they were worth in an ebay 4 box 2013-14 Titanium hockey break. A few teams made out tremendously in the Prizm break - it hit a 1/1 auto, a Gold Prizm /10 of a top rookie, and an auto of another top rookie. I got a Prizm and a couple rookies (rookies are 1 per pack SPs). I had an auto hit from each team in Titanium, and lost a random for a dual jersey card from one of the teams as well. My total spent was under $24, and the autos are nice. I'm happy with the results, especially from the Titanium.

My 2-case Topps Chrome lot (Jaguars, without the autos) arrived. I believe 1 Jaguars auto was hit in those cases, and it was a base /600. For $17, I got a MJD black refractor /299, a Luke Joeckel 1969 insert refractor /99, 5 refractors, 3 other inserts of Denard Robinson, and 33 base cards. There are 9 Jaguars in the set, and 6 are rookies (rookies aren't SPs) - I got from 3 to 5 of each player.

A whole bunch of stuff arrived in the mail. A final count of my colored refractors from the 5+ case Chrome FB draft where I bought spots was 21, as there was another Blue Wave I was unaware of. I got at least 2 refractors and 20 base of each of my 11 players.

Here are pictures from several breaks.
Picture 1 is Triple Threads BB and FB. BB is a Ryan Braun patch /9 (the top part of the U from his nameplate), a Segura/Tulowitzki/Jeter triple relic /3 (single color relics on everything) and a Chris Archer White Whale 1/1 auto triple relic (the middle relic is 2-color, and is either a patch or piping). FB is an Andre Ellington auto relic /25, and a Patrick Peterson Emerald parallel /170. Not pictured are 4 BB base and 2 FB base.
    image
The Braun patch is a monster. Too bad he's a PEDhead.

Picture 2 is Elite Extra Edition BB and Select FB. BB is a Ryne Stanek die-cut auto/100 (not pictured are around 20 base and a Scouting 101 insert). FB is a Brice Butler refractor auto /199, a Mychal Rivera auto /499, and refractors of Flacco, Mychal Rivera, and Conner Vernon (not pictured are a Mellette rookie and 18 base).

My Certified FB cards arrived - a Matt Barkley relic /299 (large swatch, I'm not sure of the insert set name), and 10 base cards.

I also bought 2 teams in a 6-box ebay 2013 Topps Chrome FB break that breaks later today, with weak rookie content (no autos), but some strong veteran content. It came to $10.99 total - I figure I should get at least 1 colored refractor, and am hoping it's a nice one. The base cards should provide me with at least break-even value.

Bought a team with strong autograph potential and a decent number of rookies in a 6-box ebay break of 2013 Bowman Chrome baseball, and a fairly strong team in a 5-box ebay break of 2013 Panini Limited football (both from the same seller, so I got combined shipping). Hit a very nice color auto (it sells on ebay for more than double what I paid for the team) and a colored refractor in the first box of baseball. Nothing else special, but I know I also got some base cards. Hit a veteran relic and a rookie auto relic in the first box of football. It's a great result, but the two cards would only sell on ebay currently for around what I paid for the team (though the rookie has a lot of room for growth).

The Chrome FB break went fine. I got a color refractor, and I believe I got a couple other refractors, plus a good amount of base.

  • I buy into case breaks almost daily. It's fun, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I grade everything out so even if I don't hit, I make.

    Check out bargainboxbreaks.com

Pete is the greatest. Been doing case breaks with him since last September. Even going to go to his bachelor party. Have it all set up, yes in Vegas. No Vegas bump threads please.

Keep the stories and scans coming!! Love it!!

Last night we did 2 Bowman Draft, and Topps Chrime football by division. Pete does all kinds if cool stuff. Has pulled some incredible cards.

I bought what I thought was a fairly strong team in an 8-box break of 2013-14 Titanium hockey (the Ducks) for $25.98. I bombed. I got 5 base cards. It's the luck of the draw. Some teams that aren't significantly better on average got 4 hits. The good news was that the seller offered skunk protection, so that I was sent a pack of 2013-14 Upper Deck hockey with the base cards as a consolation. It had a nice Ryan Nugent-Hopkins insert in it.
Considering the price of Titanium, I'm not impressed. Lots of the relics aren't numbered (roughly half the ones in the break). That's not acceptable for a 20-card, 5 hit box that costs over $100. While there were some really nice patches, there was also a #/25 relic that wasn't even a patch, most of the autos were stickers, and there were multiple duplicates among the hits. I have a feeling that this product will drop in price significantly.

    Nick,
Thanks for updating this thread with your results. I get in these types of breaks as well, but mostly with firehandcards and it is all random. I don't mind it myself that way. I figure that it's a good way to hopefully hit something big and if not, I would spend that much on a box myself with pretty much the same results.
I know this is mostly a vintage forum, but how nice would it be to go on breakerstv and do vintage breaks live for once!!
You would think since no one does it, that there has to be some sort of market for if.
  • i just bought nine spots in a 20 case 2013 bowman draft case break
will update the results here - i'm excited to not have to sort base cards at least...

I hadn't realized (though I should have, based on base card quantities) that the 2-case Jaguars break from Chrome was coming in 2 packages. The second arrived. My total for my $17 was the black refractor of MJD, the 1969 insert refractor of Joeckel /99, 6 Denard Robinson inserts (2 1959 minis, a 1965 Tallboy, 2 1986s, and a 1969) and a 1969 insert of Joeckel, 9 refractors (2 MJD and one of everyone else but Shorts), and 68 base cards (from 6 to 9 of everyone).

  • I believe it was in 2007 that I realized Topps Chrome did the base RC and separate Auto RC. I believe its the go to FB set in the long run and Iam impressed with how the last few years have turned out. I see great value during the intial release although the RC classes make a big difference.

Bought a decent team in a 4-box ebay break of 2013 Titanium hockey. Got only base, and not many of them. Meanwhile, one of the weakest teams in the product had 2 hits and a numbered rookie. Oh well. I'll probably avoid this product for future breaks because its hits are already selling ridiculously cheaply on ebay - I picked up a couple jerseys at under a dollar each before combined shipping.

Bought a team with strong hit content in a 3-box ebay break of 2013 Elite basketball. No hits, but a numbered rookie and a numbered parallel. Very good results IMO, as both of those cards are worth more than some hits. I think this product will drop substantially. Between the underperforming rookie class and lots of hits that won't be popular (examples - Lebron jersey card with him pictured as a Cavalier and Dwight Howard jersey card with him pictured as a Magic), there's nothing to make this set stand out as collectible. There just isn't all that much value per box.

I also purchased a team in a presell of a break, which won't happen for a couple of weeks. Based on my analysis of the checklist, I got a great price, as it's a very strong team.

Bought a team that was a decent value in a 6-box 2013 Chrome FB ebay break. I didn't get any color, but I think I did OK overall based on the quantity of cards. Meanwhile, a whole bunch of things have arrived in the mail, including my Sami Vatanen redemptions from Panini. The /299 patch was fine - your basic 2 color with stitching. The /99 patch was very nice - 4 color with lots of stitching. Unfortunately, he has an awful signature.

Picture 1: The 2 Vatanen patch autos that returned from redemption status (on-card autos) and the Certified Matt Barkley relic.
    image

Picture 2: Rookie patch autos of Viktor Fasth and Richard Rakell (the Rakell has a tiny amount of a 2nd color visible in the upper left corner), both /299, and a Jakob Silfverberg base card /299, from a Dominion break where the Ducks cost me $40. ebay value is probably less, but if Fasth becomes the #1 goalie, his cards will go up a lot. It was a very good break IMO.
    image

Picture 3: Yeison Asencio gold refractor auto /50 and Chase Headley purple refractor /199 from 2013 Bowman Chrome baseball, Knile Davis rookie patch auto (1 color patch with stitching) /99 and Tamba Hali Limited Threads jersey /99 from 2013 Panini Limited football, and Matt Donovan Metallic Marks Bronze auto and Jordan Schroeder Titanium Reserve auto from 2013-14 Titanium hockey. Not pictured: 16 Bowman Chrome base cards and 4 Titanium base cards. Any gold BC auto is a big hit, and the Knile is a great card too. I paid $20.30 total for both team spots, and the Asencio sells for $25 or so by itself.
    image

Picture 4: Julio Jones prism refractor /260, Tony Gonzalez and Joe Flacco refractors (all from 20013 Topps Chrome football), and Justin Blackmon Prizm and 2 Ace Sanders rookies (all from 2013 Panini Prizm football). Not pictured: 27 Chrome base cards, 7 Prizm base cards and 2 HRX inserts. This break was somewhat disappointing in that there were only 2 regular refractors, although at least there was a decent color (I'd rather have a prism than a blue wave, black, pink, or camo, though a rookie color is almost always preferable). $10.99 wasn't exactly a big risk for what I got.
    image

I bought a team in a 1-box ebay break of 2013 Triple Threads baseball, because I got it extremely cheap ($1.05, and it's a team with lots of hits). This is from a breaker who doesn't ship base cards, but with this team, that wasn't a worry - there are none of those. Haven't seen the break video yet.

I also have purchased 9 spots in a 20-case 2013 Bowman Draft baseball draft break. I bought them after the random, so I was able to buy fairly late picks for cheap prices. My slots are 144, 187, 191, 194, 210, 232, 243, 286, and 290. I was lucky enough at 144 that a 4 case (plus one box) slot of the Dual Draftees inserts was still available, so I took it. There's at least one of these inserts per box, and while the cards aren't tough to find, they include people like Mark Appel, Kris Bryant, and an Austin Meadows/Clint Frazier duo. I should get more than 60 cards for this slot. At 187, 191, and 194, I took Casey Meisner, Jacob Nottingham, and Trey Williams, all of who are in the BDPP part of the set. I went for what I felt were best available first-year cards, passing up some Top Prospects cards of bigger name players and base number cards of guys who are already in the majors - though I'm not wedded to BDPP for future picks (the other picks haven't taken place yet). I'm looking at 100+ cards for base number, BDPP, or TP slots, and we'll eventually see how good I am at prospecting (though how much I get in colored refractors is about luck).

I watched the video of Triple Threads. The breaker had an issue with the original video not being saved, so they added a 2nd box of Triple Threads to the break. The first box had a monster hit - Rickey Henderson auto triple relic 1/1. I had the Diamondbacks, which are a fairly strong team for hit quantity, but didn' t get anything. They also did 4 random giveaways (2 plus 2 more when they added a new box), but I had no luck there either. At $1.05, the risk/reward ratio was a great buy - repeated enough, it would be getting the team in a 9-box case for under $10.
The draft finished for the 20-case Bowman Draft case - I got Scooter Gennett at #210, Alec Grosser at #232, Jason Martin at #243, Nick Franklin at #286, and Nathan Karns at #290. Grosser and Martin are BDPP, while the others are numbered in the base set. The break will take several days to complete.

My last bad result from Titanium arrived. 1 base card. I had the Kings, for about $11.50.
My Elite cards also arrived. I had the Pistons, and my $9.90 got me 5 base cards, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope rookie /999, and Grant Hill Aspirations die-cut /67.
The 20-case Bowman Draft break has started. I had two major scores in the first case - Jason Martin black refractor /35 and Nathan Karns orange refractor /25. Nothing major in the other 3 cases opened. The guy who had the Dual Draftees insert slot for the first 4 cases made out like a bandit. He got a Frazier/Meadows dual auto /25. image.

We're now through 12 cases in the Bowman Draft break. I've apparently gotten 2 more colored refractors, both of Alec Grosser - a blue /99 and a red /5! image. If you're not into baseball prospecting, he's a hardthrowing RHP who was the Braves' 11th round pick last year out of high school (rated higher but fell due to signability concerns) and put up some headturning numbers in the Gulf Coast (Rookie) League. If he ever turns prospect into major leaguer, this is a huge card.
I bought 4 teams with decent hit potential for reasonable to good prices in a 5-box ebay break of 2013 Limited football. One of the teams got skunked, another had 2 base cards of the same player (base are numbered in this set), another had a low-numbered parallel, and the last had a rookie auto. It's not an awful result - I paid just over $31 for the teams and got around that in Beckett prices back, buying boxes of this set is quite expensive, the parallel is of one of my favorite players, and the rookie auto is a QB, so if he ever becomes a starter, that card shoots up.
The presale I bought a while ago breaks today. If I'm right, I'll be trying to buy that team up from several other breakers who are selling it at the same price.

Got the cards from my last Topps Chrome FB break. Paid $9.60 for the Jaguars, which is a little more than I valued them at, but I was trying to get some other teams too, and there would have been combined shipping if I had. Disappointing result - 3 inserts (a 1969 of Joeckel and 2 1986s of Denard Robinson), refractors of Robinson and Jonathan Cyprien, and 12 base (odd collation - 4 Matt Scott and 3 Cecil Shorts, but no MJD or Cyprien). Not a huge loss.

My presale break happened. It was Totally Certified hockey. I did all right - a couple rookies (which are SPs), a #/100 parallel, a low numbered rookie auto relic of a very good player, and I won a random for a nice numbered dual jersey card (plus some base cards). Decent for $30. And I don't even think that was a very good break for that team. I've bought it at the same price for 2 other cases.

Through 4 more cases of the 20-case Bowman Draft break, I got another Alec Grosser blue refractor /99. That spot is doing very well for me.
I also bought Tom Windle (non-auto) in a 5-case Bowman Draft break. I'm prospecting on him - decent pitching prospect for my favorite team (Dodgers).

Holy smokes - a 20 case break?! Where did you find that break and how much did your spots cost? I saw in an earlier post that you came in late and got the spots for cheap, but I'm curious as to how much that was. I'm not into modern stuff, but what you do sounds like fun.

The forums at Blowoutcards.com have a group break section, with breaks that are hosted directly by BO employees or by members there. If it's by a member there, it has to be a random or draft break. If it's run by BO, it can also be an auction.

There are occasional massive group breaks on ebay or other sites, but the biggest I've gone in for there was a Contenders 3-case break.

On the breaks at BO, I will go in from the beginning on auctions. On the other types of breaks, some hosts will permit people to sell spots to outsiders (i.e., someone who didn't originally have a slot in the break) after the random or draft order is set. The price is whatever is negotiated, and it's standard to pay by PayPal gift (no fees) - any member who tried to cheat by refusing to acknowledge the transaction would find themselves blackballed quickly. I'll jump in on lower-end spots, which normally resell for substantially less than the initial slot price (sometimes over 80% off for really low spots).

Meanwhile, the picture is my hits from the Elite basketball break.

It looks like I got 1 more colored refractor in the last 4 cases of the 20-case break - a Nick Franklin blue /99. Someone else got Yasiel Puig red refractor #1/5! image
Windle did not yield any color for me in the 5-case break.

I also bought a decent team in a 5-box ebay break of 2013 Panini Limited football. Got nothing. Meanwhile, another team whereI was the underbidder got 2 huge hits - superstar auto and superstar jumbo jersey, both #/25. I paid $11.26 for the team, so it's not a huge loss and I hadn't overspent on them.

I'm still riding a high off the Grosser red refractor.

  • In the 20 cased I think I ended up with a green and blue and refractor auto of clarkin as well as a handful of base autos
Also a few Tim Anderson base autos
My non auto spots yielded zilch

I just bought two random team spots in a 2 case tribute break as well as a single card spot in a bit break.

mattingly - Clarkin did very well for you.

I went in on a 1-case team auction for 2012 Bowman Draft from BO. Bought the full case of paper base ($55) and 2 teams - Angels ($14) and Tigers ($20) - plus shipping and PayPal fees. The base is an easy buy for me - we're talking about getting several sets worth. As for the teams, neither has an autograph possibility, but the Tigers have a lot of players and high relic potential. I actually overpaid for both teams by my value calculations - I was trying to do several things at once and didn't think clearly. BO did something very nice because of how high the break sold overall - they threw in a free box of 2013 Topps Chrome for the break and also gave away 2 big-name autos that were randomed off.
I lucked out. In the box of Topps Chrome, I got a Bruce Rondon refractor auto #/499. In the Bowman Draft, I got a Purple Ice #1/10 of Eric Stamets of the Angels. Rondon is now a reliever for the Tigers, and had a good rookie year. Stamets is an Angels prospect who could be a long-term major leaguer. He's a slap hitter with great speed and fantastic defense. His downside is Brendan Ryan. His upside is Ozzie Smith or Omar Vizquel.
I estimate the Stamets would sell for more by itself than I paid for the Angels team, and the Rondon is a decent value card.

It was a very strong break overall - a numbered Buxton AFLAC auto, lots of top prospect autos (Gallo, Russell, Dahl blue refractor, Naquin, Almora), and a Superfractor (though not of a top prospect)

Bought a strong team in a 2-box Dominion break for a great price. The break is too small for my taste, but I discounted the team value accordingly, and still got it - for a lot less than much weaker teams went for. The breaker spent too much time oohing and aahing over every card, but that's just a matter of personal taste. I found it somewhat annoying that the break was completed and posted to Youtube rather than watchable live (I'd like to be able to watch live, though often I don't), but I'm confident the break was fully legitimate - when the breaker reads off the ebay names of the team winners and the serial numbers of the boxes and does all opening (including the sealed case) on camera, it would be a very expensive proposition to ignore the results and rerun a break if you had a truly massive hit.
Had 2 nice rookie patch auto hits - with the last 2 cards in the break. Made out huge. image

Today was a busy day for me.

Bought 7 teams (mostly decent to strong) for good prices in an ebay 5-box break of 2013 Limited football. I didn't catch much of the break, but the breaker did a hit recap. I believe I got at least 7 cards - 1 base, an insert, a veteran jersey (with cool stitching), 2 different auto redemptions (I think both are auto relics) of the same rookie, a low numbered veteran jersey auto, and a jumbo patch of a HOFer. Based on the hit recap, I think I probably had the top 2 cards of the break. image

The 2 case breaks I had already bought from 2013-14 Totally Certified hockey happened. In the first one, I hit 2 rookie auto relics, a relic, a couple rookies, and a numbered parallel. I also lost a random for a dual jersey. In the second one, I believe I had 6 hits, at least 3 of which were auto relics, and won a random for a dual jersey - 7 total hits. image

I bought 2 teams in a 9-box 2013 Triple Threads baseball ebay break. They had gone unsold at a starting bid that was above what I valued them at, and I negotiated a price with the seller. They technically went off at the same price, but I valued one higher and one lower. The break went fine. One team got me an auto triple relic and I won a triple player relic in a random due to that team. The other team got me a jumbo relic and 2 numbered parallels (one low numbered). I'm a sucker for this set, even though ebay value is usually quite a bit less than I'm paying for the break slot - but I'm coming out ahead of buying boxes (and I have 4 1/1s among my pickups).

I also bought 3 decent to strong teams in a 15-box 2013 Limited football ebay break. Not such a good result. The weakest team by the numbers got me 3 or 4 base cards and a rookie auto relic. A second team got me 1 base card, while the third got me 1 base card, a veteran jersey, and a rookie auto relic. I was expecting about 5 hits, rather than 3. However, I paid a few dollars more than the price of one box, and what I got is basically the contents of a good box plus a couple base cards (I say a good box because many boxes have only 1 auto among their 3 hits). Due to some technical issues with the break, I have a substantial discount coming from the breaker on a future break purchase, which is very good.

I also bought 2 more full case breaks (direct from the breaker) upcoming on 2013-14 Totally Certified hockey - the same team as I've bought previously, at the same price. I'll keep buying that team at that price as often as I can. My 3 case average is 4 hits on this team plus other good cards (rookies & parallels).

I bought 2 players in a 10-case 2013 Bowman Draft baseball break (a player random; I bought the spots after the players had been assigned) - Connor Greene and Thomas Milone. That break is ongoing, but Greene has already hit a orange refractor #/25, so I'm doing quite well. I figured on getting 1 colored refractor between the 2 players, and orange is one of the best.

I also bought 3 teams cheaply in a 1-case 2011 Bowman baseball auction. That happens tonight.

I had some nice maildays - pictures will be coming soon and will be edited into this post. The Panini Limited break where I had nothing - my team was the Chiefs, and the breaker sent a note that shipping would be free the next time I break with him. Very nice surprise.

I also got the cards from another Limited break where I had 3 teams - the Raiders, the Titans, and the Chiefs. The Raiders yielded a Tim Brown Spotlight parallel #/25, the Titans yielded 2 Eddie George base cards #/349, and the Chiefs yielded a Monikers auto #/299 of Tyler Bray. I can always hope Bray turns into a starter.

The Bowman Draft break where I bought all Chrome of Tom Windle for 5 cases - I got 2 refractors and 11 base. I'm pretty high on him as a prospect, so that's a nice stash.

The Triple Threads baseball break cards were from the Blue Jays and Padres. I got a R.A. Dickey jumbo bat relic /27, a Yonder Alonso auto triple relic /50, and a Jurickson Profar (bat)/Jason Kipnis (uniform)/Jedd Gyorko (uniform) triple relic /36, plus a Jose Bautista onyx parallel /50, a R.A. Dickey copper parallel /125, and a base card. I consider it $41.98 well spent, even though ebay value is far less (as buying a pack would have cost far more).

The 2-box Dominion hockey break yielded a Rickard Rakell (1 color) patch auto /299 and a Sami Vatanen Peerless Patches rookie auto redemption - I think these will be /50. Vatanen has already signed (My other redemptions of him were fulfilled), so it should be a quick turnaround, and the Peerless Patches I've seen look really nice. For $8 and change, I'm way ahead of the game on this one.

And I got back my first break results from a case of Totally Certified hockey - I had the Ducks for $30, who I've now bought for 5 cases. Frederik Andersen rookie auto jersey /25, Dustin Brown/Corey Perry Certified Competitors dual jersey, rookies of Sami Vatanen and Hampus Lindholm, a Corey Perry red parallel /100, and 4 base cards. Andersen is playing very well as a rookie goalie, so that could be a huge card.

I watched the video of the Limited break where I had 7 teams - I got 11 cards in total, with 6 of my 7 teams having at least 1 card. Had at least one rookie and a parallel among the other cards.

No other color in the 10-case Bowman Draft break.

I bought into 3 breaks yesterday - a fairly strong team in a 2-box 2013-14 Totally Certified hockey ebay break where base doesn't ship. I paid under $4 for it, and killed it - a very nice relic, and a low-numbered parallel. It's too small a break for my taste (figure at least half the teams will be shut out), but for the right price, it's a good gamble.

I bought a pretty strong team in an 8-box 2013-14 Dominion hockey break for just under $39. Only one card - a quad relic. It's a nice card, though certainly not a great result value-wise.

I bought a fairly strong team in a 12-box (case) 2013-14 Totally Certified hockey ebay break where base doesn't ship. I paid $15.50 for the team. I got 2 rookies and a rookie auto relic. Not a great result, but cheaper than a random pack and likely better.

I bought an OK team in a 6-box 2013 Topps Chrome football ebay break for under $6. I took advantage of a free shipping offer from the seller due to being hitless in a prior break (I realized that I had 2 such breaks from this seller where that offer had been extended). Hit a color refractor and a couple of regular refractors, so I did all right.

I bought a pretty good team for $12 and change in a 6-box 2013 Topps Chrome football ebay break from a different seller. I overpaid a little for this by my estimate of value, but I was trying to get combined shipping. At the time of the break, he had 3 unsold teams, and made a nice offer for all 3. I took it. The team I originally bought did great - at least 3 colored refractors, plus other refractors and inserts. Of the 3 teams I bought, one hit a colored refractor and I believe at least one regular refractor, I think the second hit a couple regular refractors, and the third hit a parallel (color) auto.

2013 Chrome football is selling really well on breaks - I think much of this is due to player collectors trying to put together rainbows - and on the big rookies (everyone who was at the Rookie Premiere), there's an auto rainbow, a base/refractor rainbow, and one or more insert rainbows (potentially with insert auto rainbows). What I like about breaking it is that you have a reasonable idea on most breaks what you'll get for base, inserts, and total refractors, so you seldom fall far below projected value. OK, and building a complete rainbow (or at least complete without superfractor) would be really neat.

My other 2 2013-14 Totally Certified hockey case breaks happened. The first was pretty good - 2 autos, a jersey, a couple rookies, and one of the purple parallels only available in the pack sent out separately with each case purchased (not in a box). The highlight for me was the purple. The second had an auto relic, an auto, and a couple rookies. That's on the low end of expectations, but still reasonable.
I watched a couple monster cards get pulled, including a rookie 1/1 auto tag and a 1/2 dual tag featuring a HOFer and a possible HOFer (which went to a random).

I got a few break results in the mail. On some of them, I need to go back and review the video, because it doesn't match up with what I thought I had.
My 1-team Chrome FB result was the Ravens. Whar I thought was 1 color (prism /260) and 2 regular refractors turned out to be 2 prism (Ray Rice and Arthur Brown) and 1 regular (Dumervil). It's easy to not realize a refractor is a prism version if you don't look carefully. I also got 14 base cards.

I had a lot of activity recently - more than I planned to.

I bought 5 decent to strong teams in a 5-box 2013 Panini Limited football ebay break. Two came up empty, one hit a base card, but another hit a low-numbered veteran auto, and the last hit a rookie jumbo relic and a top rookie auto jumbo relic. I think there may have been 1 or 2 other base cards or rookies also. Excellent result overall - the 2 autos are both strong value cards.

I got my cards from the Bowman Draft break where I had Connor Greene and Thomas Milone. Got a Milone blue wave, which is sort of color (not serial numbered, but scarcer than regular refractors).

I also got my cards from the Bowman Draft 20 case player draft break where I had 8 players and an insert slot. Will be posting pics and a more thorough breakdown - I got 11 waves to go with my 7 color.

I also bought 3 teams in a 2011 Bowman Draft case break on BO. Happy with my results from all 3 - a good number of colored base cards (blue and orange), plus inserts, a triple relic /99, and a strong rookie auto.

I bought 11 slots in a 2013 Bowman Draft 10 case player draft break - had 5 color among my players, including an orange /25 and black /35 of the same player (Alen Hanson). No idea how many waves I got. My players were Jarred Cosart, Alec Grosser, Alen Hanson, Ian Stiffler, Jason Martin, Roel Ramirez, Alex Colome, Nathan Karns, Drake Britton, Reed Harper, and Cody Harris.

And last but certainly not least, I bought 41 of the 330 players in a 50-set 2013 Bowman Chrome Mini baseball player auction. Early in the auction, I threw in the minimum bid of $10 on everyone who didn't have a bid. At the time, that was about a third of the set. I was expecting to be outbid on almost all, if not all - you're guaranteed 50 base cards per player (with the possibility of some of the base being replaced by xfractors /100), and should average 4 to 5 #'d refractors per player (refractors are /125, with the various colored versions being less). 50 sets is over 1% of the total print run of this set (estimated at 4500 sets based on refractor odds).
Well, lots of the players in this set really aren't good prospects, so nobody else wanted them. After looking at who I had, I decided that I really only cared to keep 3 of them, and offered the other 38 for sale for fairly small profits. I sold 5 - the buyers should be reasonably happy, as most of the slots hit top colors (1 had a purple /5, another had a red /10, and a third had an orange /15). My overall results were solid - I hit about 4.8 refractors per player overall, though I didn't hit a superfractor and had only 1 printing plate. There were no xfractor sets, so I obviously didn't get any. I'm still going to see if I can sell off all the guys but the 3 I really want to keep (Alec Grosser, Ben Rowen, and Zach Eflin).

One of the breaks where my returns didn't match my memory - the seller had to ship one card separately, due to his initial error in assigning it to the wrong team (it's a redemption) I haven't yet compared the video to the return on the other break.

I'm way behind in posting pictures and breakdowns. I'll get to it. image

It's been fun to watch how your group break experiences have panned out... you definitely need to add scans. I don't much participate in modern product, so it's neat to see what is out there on the market today. Every so often something will catch my eye and inspires me to put the set together. I forgot when I posted about the latest Limited FB break that I had also purchased a very strong team in a 5-box break of 2013 Elite Extra Edition baseball from the same seller's auctions. It hit big - 3 autos, one of them very low numbered and of a top prospect - though all are redemptions. image

Since then, I've purchased 2 OK teams in a 6-box 2013 Topps Chrome FB ebay break. Got a colored refractor for each team and inserts for each team. Not sure if I got any other refractors.

I also bought 4 teams (1 weak and 3 fairly strong, but the weak one was really cheap) in another 5-box break of 2013 Elite Extra Edition baseball. Did very well - I believe all 4 teams hit autos, with at least 1 having 2 autos (one very low-numbered).

I bought 2 OK to good teams in another 6-box 2013 Topps Chrome FB ebay break. I have to watch the video of that.

The stronger team had a low-numbered color auto - not a great player, but high-value nonetheless.
