Went To The Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore- Pics Inside!

Last night I was in Baltimore for the Orioles game, and before the game, we stopped at the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum near the stadium. It is the house that Ruth was born in, and they turned into a really nice museum. Anyways, I took some pics inside and thought Id share them. They had some really rare Ruth cards on display and some other cool memorabilia. There were probably close to 15 Ruth autographed balls on display throughout the whole building. The bat in the case in the 5th picture, was a bat that Shoeless Joe Jackson gave to Ruth as a gift. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. Have been to Baltimore 4 or 5 times the past year and keep saying I'm going to visit Ruth's house but never have.

Great pics!! The last time I visited the museum was when Oriole Park was still a whole in the ground (they were building it at the time). Thanks for sharing!!

My great-grandmother grew up with Babe Ruth in Baltimore. She lived on Riverside Avenue behind Federal Hill. I love those old row houses. Here are a couple recent photos of their old house. My Grandfather grew up in this house too.

Incredible, I'll have to put that on the list of things to do next time I'm in the area.
  • Funny thing is that I saw that the uncut Fro Joy sheet is colored, and I always thought authentic uncut sheets were black/white while colored sheets were counterfeit.

I forgot to mention, the Frojoy sheet was at the sports legends museum outside the stadium, not the babe ruth museum. That got mixed in with my ruth museum pics by accident. But I still agree, they shouldn't have reprints on display. Good catch you guys.

Doog71. I know everything about the koester bread Ruth. I am friends with the owner and was at "pops" house when the koesters where discovered back in the 1980s. Pm and question you have about the card or set.
The set celebrated the 1921 World Series between the Ny Americans vs Ny Nationals. This was the first subway series. The photo where the same photos used by American caramel e 121 and the blank back w 575 cards. You can tell the difference between a Koester card and a w 575 by the paper stock. Much thicker on the Koesters card An album was also available to glue the Koesters cards into so many of them have back damage. Also,Ruth is listed as "George" not babe in the koesters set. I believe he is listed as babe and "babe" with quotes in the American caramel issue. The w 575 set list him as George and babe. Two interesting things worth mentioning about the card is Ruth is in a pitching poses wearing a Boston uniform and the the "r" in American is always found broken on the koester issue.

    Thanks for the pictures Evan!!!

My wife went to check it out during last year's National, but didn't end up making it there. I think she got distracted with shopping, but I don't really know as I was too busy doing important stuff. image
