Back home from Chicago with a few items.

I just got back home to Naples, FL from Chicago. A two day car ride. It was great to have my son Jon there to share the time with. I wanted to say how nice it was to see some old friends from the CU board and meet some new faces. On the flip side, it was sad to hear about the thefts. I hope those low-lifes (I would like to call them something else so you add the appropriate adjectives) are caught. As usual, the National is just an amazing display of a wide variety of sports memorabilia, cards and autographs. If you've never been to one, put it on your bucket list. 51 weeks to Cleveland!

Here are my pick-ups:
1986 Topps football rack box, 1975 Topps football cello box and some 1981 Topps football packs
image

1972 OPC Baseball 2nd series box, 2 1980 OPC Baseball 4 pack racks and some 1978 OPC packs

An early Mick auto on a GPC and a Chick Gandil (1919 Black Sox) on a lined 3x5

1975 Topps baseball mini cello box all PSA graded, 1975 Topps baseball mini wax box, 1979 Topps baseball cello box, 1980 Topps baseball wax pack rack and two 1980 Topps baseball wax trays

Dang Doug, are you stocking inventory for a group rip? image

I wondered who picked up the 75 mini cello graded box. Nice job. You bought some quality product. It was great to see you again. I am going to have to meet you for a spring training game next spring.

Wow. Nice pick-ups. You could spend the next year looking for that stuff and not see most of it. Worth the drive!
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

  • << <i>$900 for a '79 cello?!?! I can guarantee that's staying sealed image

Nice pickups indeed, you picked a good Natty to attend. Worth keeping that all sealed at least until the next one to see how prices increase ... maybe double your money by selling it all back to Steve image >>

The price mentioned here ($900) on the CU forum for the '79 cello is wrong. They were $800 before any negotiation. They were all gone by Friday A.M.

Actually Matt I bought that one already slabbed from Steve @ BBCE. My son Jon who was with me bought a 1951 GPC from Kevin Keating. I think that's the one you saw.

Is it just me or does it seem like 1975 Mini was the Star of the show? It seems everyone either picked up something, was talking about it, or was selling it. Steve had a ton of it of course but overall it seems that stuff has really gotten en fuego!

  • Every time I see something like this I can't help but think to myself "How in the world does this stuff stay unopened???"

I have a lot of respect for the guys that can restrain themselves and have an appreciation for it. But me personally, there is no way in the world I could do it! I couldn't even resist opening a pack of 1985 Donruss if I held it in my hands!

    Awesome stuff!

Someone made out like a bandido. I'm especially loving the enhanced look of those pack racks; BBCE hit that one about 450 feet.
