First off, for those of you that will gripe that this thread is posted in this section, historically fantasy football threads have been allowed in this particular forum. It's a league made up of sports cards and memorabilia collectors after all
I'm going to be hosting year 4 of my Playing for Peanuts Yahoo fantasy football money league. Email invites have already been sent to last years managers (except for the one guy that didn't pay me and won't respond to my requests, you know who you are, if you make things right, I'll let you back in, unless someone grabs your spot first). Last years managers will have till late next week to register before I open it up for anyone else. 16 team max, 12 team minimum. Once a team is eliminated, it will be locked from adding/deleting players. Returning managers, check your emails for the Yahoo invite. Once you register, PM me for my paypal address, all funds to be paid via paypal gift within 7 days of your registration or your spot will not be held (unless you make prior arrangements with me). If you got an invite and don't wish to play, please let me know and I'll open your spot up for someone else.
If you are a new owner and would like to play, please post here that you'd like to be an alternate, and if anyone drops out, I'll get you in, in the order of your posts.
Draft is scheduled for Sunday, August 18 at 7 PM Central Time. Due to me starting law school on 8/14, the draft time is firm.
This years entry fee is the same as last year $100 per team, and payouts will be based on the following:
Prizes will be paid out as follows:
Champion- 50% of pot
2nd Place- 25% of pot
3rd Place- 15% of pot
4th Place- 10% of pot
IMPORTANT- Last year, I covered one guy that didn't pay his fee, as he was always a good participant before, and he ended up not paying and rather than raise a stink about it, I chipped in $200 to the pot myself to make the pot whole. That is NOT happening this year. If you don't pay, you will NOT play. It was my own fault last year for trusting someone, and it's not happening again for my league.

Yes, go to:
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/323162/draft
when that pulls up, look over on the right hand side for the draft countdown clock. Underneath that clock there will be a link that says:
"Test your system to see if it is draft compatible"
Click that link and see if you are compatible or not. If you are not compatible, find another system or download whatever you need to get compatible.

You aren't doing too bad.
So far you have:
Russell Wilson
Julio Jones
Roddy White
Tony Gonzalez
Arian Foster
Ronnie Hillman
HOUSTON
I wasn't even there, but I ended up with my top pick having back issues (that's great for a RB) and my other 2 RB's are backups. Had I been there I would have probably taken M. Lynch, at least I know he will most likely hold up over the season.
Here's the overall team and their draft position:
1. (3) Arian Foster RB
2. (30) Julio Jones WR
3. (35) Roddy White WR
4. (62) Russell Wilson QB
5. (67) Tony Gonzalez TE
6. (94) Ronnie Hillman RB
7. (99) Houston DEF
8. (126) Matt Bryant K
9. (131) Vick Ballard RB
10. (158) Martellus Bennett TE
11. (163) Rueben Randle WR
12. (190) EJ Manuel QB
13. (195) Lawrence Tynes K
Tynes has already been cut for R. Helu as an extra RB.

And for planning purposes, I'm thinking of raising the stakes next year, perhaps a $200 or $250 buy-in. What do y'all think??? Is that too much, or will it make it more fun and rewarding? If you have 8 months to plan for it, would you play at a $250 buy-in, total pot $4,000, with $2,000 to winner, $1,000 to 2nd, $600 to 3rd, and $400 to 4th???
Mike

Sure, offer a 4K pot the year AFTER I win the championship, LOL!

Does Yahoo offer a playoff fantasy football league??

<< <i>Yes Mike...we did it one year about 3 years ago...don't you remember? >>
Bobby, I'm getting old. All I remember these days are the elements of homicide, the elements of torts, and whatever the key points are of cases that I have to write about!!

I'm in for the league next year, what ever you decide.
Putting in $200 each, $3200 pot
1st place $1400
2nd $800
3rd $400
4th $250
5th $125
6th $100
7th $75
8th $50
Something like that
I plan to take first next year so I'm ok either way
<< <i>With a league as large as this (16 teams), I'd be in favor of upping the ante, but also giving 5th - 8th place a meager payout, rewarding each team that makes the playoffs. It would also make the "consolation" games more meaningful.

1st place $1400
2nd $800
3rd $400

7th $75
8th $50

I had the same thoughts on this as well. With such a big league, I would be in favor of raising everything as in this example. I am not sure I would be in favor of raising the entry fee if only 4 out 16 teams advance.
