Spent my virus time out adding a couple more new inductees. Figured I’d pick up the Omar now too in preparation.

Muggyman had a lot that were fakes. When he found out they were fake, he tried to sell them off before anyone caught on. He was tarred and feathered and run off the board.

I remember this as well, not all the Details, but enough to remember that he started out envied here for the items he displayed here, then there was the tarring and feathering. Best recollection is that some of what he had, was so mind boggling and almost never ever seen, and then it became apparent why that was!!!

I don't remember if it was determined if he was a total scuzball and had a hand in the packs Births or if he was just a crappy unopened Buyer who instead of eating his losses decided to share!

OPC pack was pulled from one of the 78 boxes that came out of the case we broke here on CU a number of years ago. That case was a beauty~it was before the advent of the FASC acronym so the boxes weren't labeled as such, but I sure wish we had another case of those to break. Still have one of the boxes here salted away for a rainy day. Lots of 9s and 10s from those boxes.

    (Image)

I think we actually broke more than one case at that time (Maybe 3 in different Group Breaks). I know over about a year I went through about 4-6 of those boxes. Man those were fun, Lots of 9's & 10's. I Broke one Box live, Here on a Friday night drinking Beer!

    Good Times! :):)

    YeeHah!!!

Added one of the remaining. There’s not a lot of great options for Thome for whatever reason so I picked up this 92 Topps gold. he’s been impossible to find showing on the 91 classic where I’ve gotten a few of Chipper showing but I think this one will fill the bill for the set.

Please let me know if you have or see something better though:

He's in the '91 Bowman set. I've got a '91 Bowman pack with him showing in my collection.

I’ve been looking for this one since 2015, glad to finally have it. If anyone has a piazza rookie pack to match this one let me know.

That's an awesome score, very jealous but also happy it found a proper home. That's just a killer pack. Congrats, Ryan!

Well I guess I’m done with this year’s inductees already. Anyone out there have a Pedro, Vlad or Piazza rookie showing pack to help with a couple missing back year packs?

Pedro will be tough since his '91 Upper Deck just comes in factory set. Not sure if one of his Minor League cards is showing in a sealed team set. That would be a cool piece.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Vlad is only Bowman and Bowman's Best and I don't think the cards are visible through the wrapper. Bowman could have jumbos though and those usually have some transparency.

I see in PSAs auction prices there are stars on top or bottom with the 1983 Topps Michigan test packs. Is there a specific light/magnification used? I can't seem to see through the wrapper to tell who is on top or bottom.

Gretzky,Ripken, and Sandberg collection. Still trying to complete 1975 Topps baseball set from when I was a kid.

Yes correct. Looking for Pedro, Piazza, Rodriquez and Thome I bought 3 cases of 1991 classic and all I found were Chipper Jones showing packs so it must be something about their collation. So for Pedro and Piazza I’ve decided to chase their 1992 Bowman jumbo packs which like Rivera that I have occasionally occur.

For Thome I settled for the 92 Topps gold as his best pack I could find.

For Vlad I went with his Topps 1996 Rookie as the best option because as you said the bowmans best are complete foil packs that you can’t see thru. And got this one in the last month:

Thome would be available in 1991 Bowman. That's his most desirable RC and would be a hell of a pack.

Think you made the right call with the '92 Bowmans.

Yeah there is one 1991 Bowman wax pack PSA graded out there for Thome. I wish I knew who had it, but the 92 is a placeholder at least for today. :)

1991 Classic Best is a minor league set that came in transparent packs and Pedro is in that set.

Yeah I opened 3 cases of boxes and only found a Chipper showing pack and gave up. If you find one though let me know!

VERY SORE subject with me. Have had 4 of 6 packs with stars showing come back as "Altered" no explanation and no slab. Waited about a year and three months for this and charged. Some of the packs were almost 40 years old. I don't get it. Did they think there were GI Joe cards in the pack? I get it that my 75 Yount had a small miniscue tear in corner. But the others were tight wrapped, centered. Do other companies slab cellos? I hear PSA also doesn't slab rack packs.

It could be that the collation was wrong. Can you post pix of front and back of packs or list pack type and cards on top and bottom.

Cellos with stars on top have been fabricated since the early 1980s, at least, and there are many bad packs out there. A pack rejected by PSA is not necessarily bad but questionable.
