Does anyone know when the 2013 Generals coins end?

Are these ended at the end of the year or do they carry over to 2014? Anyone know? Thanks.

That is too bad because the topic is very deserving of a commemorative coin program. Those five men played a major role in saving the world from Nazi and Imperial Japanese tyranny.
The three piece Proof set sales were limited to 10,000 sets and sold out quickly. It is a shame that the mint insists on making the more interesting sets hard to get, and then markets the rest of the coins in the same boring fashion.
This may end up being a sleeper.
<< <i>Most mint commem programs end in December of that year. >>
I believe it's part of the Congressional mandate...must end by 12/31....The Mint usually stops all sales around the middle of December.

Commemorative coins come under a different guideline....

The only change for a very low mintage for a $5 Gold Commem. would be if one goes off sale suddenly w/o notice which will not be the case here.
typically, they stop sales mid-december.
I think for these they said they will sell inventory up to 12/31.
<< <i>Legally, they can't sell past 12/31 >>
You can still get 2012 First Spouses.

there are specific program restrictions that limit the commems from being sold past 2013.

Got it. Thanks.

Outsells, yes. Outdelivers, still to be determined. It depends on whether the Mint strikes or has struck additional coins since the unc. gold went backorder.

Several indicators point towards additional coins being struck. When the 2013-W Unc AGE sold out, the web page said "sold out" (although they could have struck more).
When the Unc $5 MacArthur started going dark, the message was "product will be available for shipping 10/25/2013" - a date already past. Now the message has been changed to "product will be available for shipping 12/30/2013". Using a date that has already passed could have simply been a "placeholder" and might indicate that the Mint had not yet decided on a 2nd striking but that it was in the process of considering it.
A similar dance occurred with the 2012 Star Spangled Banner $5 Uncs - and then the Mint did strike more coins after the initial inventory was depleted.
You never know what the Mint is really going to do, but I'm guessing that the odds favor more coins being struck.
I knew it would happen.
the first spouse program has been created under a different paragraph of the law and is static year after year (made once and done). (unless Congress votes to change it later)

The Generals clad half is on backorder too, and the ship date keeps advancing one day at a time (currently 12/28). This has happened several times in the past, and in most cases the Mint did not strike additional coins and the overbooked orders were eventually canceled.
I'm watching to see if the ship date for the MacArthur unc. gold (currently 12/30) begins advancing also, once the ship date for the clad half catches up with it.

Ah, the subtle and arcane knack of interpreting Mint behaviors. I love it.!
I knew it would happen.
Cards are not charged until they are shipped.
If the order is taken on 12/31 but shipment is made in 2014, then payment is not made until 2014.
It seems there is a bit of aggressive interpretation of the law vs generally accepted accounting procedures(gaap).
Gaap would have the sale being a 2014 one. I'm sure the mint is aware. It's just interesting to note this with the change
The announced ship date for the backordered generals unc. $5 gold remains at 12/30.

Good info. I paid extra $ for expediated shipping, but I don't know if that'll help. I ordered 1 clad half on on 12/13, along with some other, non-backordered coins.
