BTW...it's that extra $0.99 that makes all the difference. You're welcome.

  • Darn! still not winning at 50K, this waxbox is now worth as much as that 54K empty 1952 topps high series casebox that Dave's is trying to peddle.

When I saw the high bid on this box a few moments ago, I just assumed it was another PWCC auction setting a new floor for 79 wax boxes..

He took it down. If ebay poofs it, there's no record of the auction item no.

BTW, Henry, it looks like bidder ***i would have sniped you by 99 cents on your 50K bid, LOL..

Gotcha. I found this amusing. Guys on eBay are clueless sometimes unless it was from one of us.

Questions and answers about this item
Q: What the "Hxxx" is this crap! Thousands of dollars for an unopened 1979 Topps baseball wax box. Give me a freaking break! Can you say "shill" bidding?
A: I cancelled all those bids. They weren't by me.

This is a perfect example of why we have been so relentless on BBG and why what he did was so un-ethical. Good job guys.

That was an absolute thing of beauty, fellas. Not to mention rather humorous. I'm most definitely down with taking matters into our own hands, because eBay hasn't exactly shown the propensity to do the right thing -- especially when confronted with the prospects of leaving $ on the proverbial table.

I bet at one point last night that ese was scouring villas in the Caymans.

I bet when that box was going for 3000.00
In that guys mind Im sure he imagined what he was going to buy with that money.
Sad to see him get his hopes up. Then he realized people were just messing with him.
    LOL funny.
    Good work

This guy is certainly an amateur at this crap. Sad thing is there will be no punishment other than the frustration of being stopped and ridiculed this time. He and/or others will figure out how to stay below the radar. There needs to be consequences for this activity.

Absolutely. Could the 'winner' of the auction somehow file a fraud claim with the police without having to pay for the box? That probably isn't possible, but at that hammer price, wouldn't that be considered a major fraud?
