    From that pic I would go anywhere from 50-55...looks like quite a few old scratches...50 if that is the case!

    58. Earlier Die State isn't a grading criteria, but it does add a level of eye appeal you usually don't see with these. I've had my 55 for a while and I've looked long and hard for an eye appealing upgrade, but to no avail image

    My initial though was AU50, then upgraded to AU53 after further consideration.

    Tough coin - Nice remnants of die clashing under the chin too!

    That's a really nice piece for a date that is often seen with poor strike, lousy luster, and ugly toning if any. A bit of obverse die clash a.k.a. chin whiskers. I'd grade it AU53.

    I hesitate to disagree with Shamika but i would say 55. Obverse very nice-- reverse is so tough for this issue.

    I'll take a stab at 58. Nice looking buff and a tough date.
    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    Just to add, I don't see many buffalo nickels in AU53. Or MS61. A lot on either side, but not many at those grades specifically. Strange.
