MA is too controversial, even for me. when it comes to toners, i'm either 100% NT or 100% AT.
even if someone "encourages" the toning with normal methods, ie. putting white coins in albums that cause toning and whatnot, i am ok with since they would have toned in those albums anyway but to artificially put something on the coins or use unacceptable methods/chemicals etc i am not ok with.
it seems the consensus is that this coin is AT. I may send one through the sniffer to see what happens but as of now I won't be selling any of the coins that look like this one on the off chance the toning isn't natural/acceptable.

i took no offense at all. i am making a genuine inquiry since modern proof toners are not my area. i remember a few threads in the past 12 months or so that showed a few modern toned proofs (not like these) that i think turned out to be NT but most everyone though was AT. so i figured i'd take a chance and pick up a few on the cheap (figured it was bad news i got em so cheap). nothing ventured, nothing gained, except a possibly valuable lesson. also learned how to effectively image them in 2 different ways. no juicing, just effective lighting positions.
although, the bright field images are over-exposed with diffusion. a method i rarely employ. the diffusion sheet was an inventory sheet from VSS. lol i hope john is proud
.
But I would assume AT and it would be impossible to convince me otherwise.

.......incidental = unintentional, accidental
.......purposeful = intentional, by choosing the coin's environment (sun light, increased humidity and warmth, certain cardboard holders and the like)
.......misleading = accellerated toning using chemicals and heat with a goal of hiding defects or artifically creating value.
Any of these three can yield MA coins. Bottom line is it may be impossible to know for sure which definition applies to a given toned coin.

very interesting WL

here is another one i bought at a different time from a different seller that came out of a very hard plastic holder with other coins that matched toning patterns. they are the reason i bought the coin(s) in the OP.
Nice coins BTW.
