Edit (after a second look)- bump me up to VF30.

It's so funny that pieces which people swear up and down haven't ever been cleaned, more often than not shine across the room as if a brillo pad had been used to do the work, have been soap-and-watered ad infinitum, etc. And vice-versa for pieces which in fact have never been cleaned.

Makes me want to have folks offer me their "cleaned" pieces, but since you never know what you're going to get, they all have to be taken on a case-by-case basis.

LOL! Got no problem whatsoever with the right obverse field, light, wispy old contact marks. Perhaps you're just seeing problems that aren't actually there. And after all, we're talking about an image of a coin, vs. in-hand inspection, but I have zero problem placing this one into the not-cleaned category.

As well, there's a nice buildup of undisturbed, naturally placed grime around the periphery of Liberty, especially around her hand, wrist and cap. Directly adjacent to the field that frankly, I'm mystified as to what you're seeing that indicates a cleaning has taken place.

While we all know the the TPG's will grade coins that are drop-dead original as well as "market acceptably" cleaned, I would be more than happy to put up $ that this coin would grade without issue at our hosts.

One thing to consider when grading twenty cent pieces is that "LIBERTY" is not an incuse design; the letters are raised and wear much more quickly.

Therefore one can't use a full LIBERTY as a complete basis to reach VF20 and beyond.
