PSA 10?
Fingers in the photo.
Item description in ALL CAPS and fifty paragraphs long.
Item description used as a personal rant. Anyone remember the $40k photo seller updating his auction to scold and taunt the CU board?

As the saying goes, LOL is the best medicine. Anyone care to chime in?

Yeah, I'm guilty of being Cliché.

    * And let's not forget the most ANNOYING cliche of all, "RARE" (especially when the card most likely has millions or at least hundreds of thousands of copies to go around).

Not sure what the bobblehead market is like outside of Wisconsin, but it's over the top here (to the point where I'm getting out). Lately there's been a trend of putting Brewers items up on ebay in the description puts "not a bobblehead." No kidding, you mean that 2008 Wild Card pennant isn't a bobblehead?

Drives me right up a wall.

I dislike it when sellers use a question mark or comparison to get their listings more hits. eBay has been better about striking these, but they still get through. Like:

"From vending" at least tells you that the card definitely will not have any wax or gum stains. IMO it is not quite as worthless as some of the other buzzwords mentioned in this thread.

Also wanted to add to the original list:

-Attic find, basement find, closet find, etc. find.
-Anything referencing a fake made-up story about being some ex-wife selling off items after a divorce by splitting them into random grab-bag lots of commons while promising you might get a big hit card in there somewhere.

How about the fact that everyone refers to new product as "wax" even though there havent been real wax packs since 1991 topps

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Pack fresh can make searching for packs tougher, but my favorite seller loves that one so I've learned to just chuckle when I see it.

Bgs on a bccg auction if bait and switch at its finest.

By the way, I'm selling unopened packs in lots of 100 cards. Packs may include 87 fleer basketball, 84 donruss baseball and someone is getting this 82 cello pack with Ripken on the front. Are any of those good? I don't know what I have since these were my late husband's and I am doing this to pay for the funeral. Please ignore that my manly hands are in all the pictures of 88 score and donruss baseball boxes.

I can't stand seeing, "A must have for any serious collector," and "buy it now, this card is only increasing in value".
  • mlbfan2mlbfan2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭
"1 of just 15 PSA Known."

The seller then compares his ticket to a 1952 Topps Mantle. Since over 1,000 Mantles have been graded, but only 15 of his tickets have, then his ticket must be worth a fortune. Apparently even he doesn't believe his own BS though, because his BIN isn't outrageously high.

"Not mini" for regular 1975 Topps cards. It should be understood that if you are listing "1975 Topps", it's the regular issue.
    Daniel
  • I understand the use of "pack fresh", although I hate it. Sounds like they are selling me an air freshener. But what does "Set Break" really mean and why would it presume to be of higher quality? I have sets that are in EX-NM condition and can make the same claim. But I dont think I would get a premium on it because of that fact.

I enjoy the differences between the title and the description

Look at this centering [scan shows 70-30]
    Vintage [1991]
1986-87 Fleer Basketball Set [missing only number 57 for completion]
    Near Complete Set [20/132]
Authentic Gretzky Rookie Card [I'm selling this as a reprint]

Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.
  • Im ashamed to say that some of my OWN listings have the silly words L@@K and NICE in the title, but only because I bought out my friend's eBay stores and warehouse after he took a job as Acquisition Specialist
for Lelands.com. The person he had listing cards is a friend so I wont bash him too bad but it IS annoying to see these hyperbolic words in what are now my listings.

IF you can look for yourself. That is the seller should if possible provide good scans (preferably of both sides) and if nothing else give a detailed description of any serious flaws like creases or miscuts (which I define as the border on either side touching or going over the edge of the card; just under a miscut I call a "hairline border").
