<< <i>3449 rating bids 15, then 87, then 91.50, then 109. Maybe I'm wrong but I just can't see someone bidding $15...then $109. >>
What's wrong with that? The first bid was 6 days ago. Often I will put a small bid on an item instead of putting it on my watch list.
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Maybe I should've used a better title for my post. I suspect shill bidding. Not that it's a guarantee. The other bidder is clearly just a one-click bid. But the 3499 rating stinks to me. IMO of course
This is a marking bid. Many people place a low starting bid to mark the item and then move in later with a more serious bid. Perhaps he was forced to raise it a few times.
The fact that this bidder placed an initial bid at $15 in no way confirms shill bidding.

Good point.. I never really bid this way but now that a few of you have confirmed this type of bidding, it puts me more at ease. Thanks
There are lots of buyers on EBAY that feed at the bottom. They try and win cards for much cheaper then what they normally sell for and tap out early once the price gets past a an inexpensive price for the item.
Bidder 333 tapped out at $39 and that was not a bid that would even be considered strong.
I will throw a lowball bid sometimes just to let the seller know that his item is going to sell. The seller will be less likely to pull it or sell it to someone off of ebay if he knows that there is bidding going on. But, that lowball bid is not my final bid. That one will come in snipe form usually.
I usually bid that way, just a "courtesy" bid to get me going and get it on my list, then when the day comes that it is ending, see where it is and go from there. If it is over where I want to go, just move on, if it is still under I may bid strange amounts until I reach my top.

Fair enough.... I'm in the wrong apparently.

Or he is just a bottom feeder.
<< <i>If there was a shill bidder the most obvious person would be bidder 333.

"bottom feeder" ? Sorry....that's a new one for me.

$15 is high for my first bid. Usually a buck or two for me. It puts the auction on my "items bidding" list. I'm too lazy to clean up the watch list.
I do the snipe at the end as well.
OR
Sometimes I place another bid half way thru just to show I'm a serious bidder.

It's a courtesy. Newbie sellers like to see interest in their auctions.
I've seen silly auction updates: "Come on people! Its a beautiful card!", etc.
A low bid is the easiest way to watch an item.
