Amazing Toned Peace Dollars - Show 'em off!
I recently posted pictures of what I consider to be a really wonderfully toned Peace dollar. I'd love to see images of other super looking Peace dollars, so let's start a thread to show off the great colors that can be hard to find in this series.

<< <i>As much as I prefer bright, as minted coins, I must admit there is money to be made in tarnish. That being said, I don't sell coins so the point is moot for me. Cheers, RickO >>
If I had a nickel for every time you have stated this in a toning thread I'd be at least .55c richer.

I used to own that coin, and actually put it in the NGC holder.
Originally bought it for $400 on ebay in a Redfield holder.
Sent it to NGC for grading, they remove from Redfield holder and determine their is PVC damage, and return to me unencapsulated.
I return to NCS for conservation, it gets conserved, successfully, and then goes to NGC for grading, gets into a 62 holder, but loses the pedigree.
It gets returned, I lose all interest in the coin, and sell it on ebay for a hefty loss.
I have pics of the coin in the Redfield holder in you are interested.
If you can post them I'd love to see them.
It's always nice to know as much as possible about your coins.

Its hard to see from that angle, but that is PVC covering her face. The green color was much more pronounced when viewed at an angle.
I am looking for some other shots, full slab shots from the seller i originally bought it from.
If you ever decide to sell, let me know, I always like to be reunited with coins i mistakenly sold.

Thanks for the pics. That is definitely the same coin. Interesting. I have never seen much mention of pvc on coins in Redfield holders.
Maybe someone with more experience with those holders will chime in.
So far I think Flatwood's 1923 in MS63 is the best.
There are some really nice ones here!
I am regretting selling this one now!!!

And I know that toned peace dollars are as rare as hen's teeth.
But...some of these pieces look like environmental disasters.
Who cares if they're rare and toned if they are just plain ugly? Is having sludge colored "tone" better than not having any tone? I don't think so.

I concur with your view.
Mine single example is monochromatic!
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
This is my only Peace dollar too.

I agree with you 100%.
This "beauty" sold in the Legend-Morphy auction last week for more than $3,000! To each his/her own.
