My complete 3 oz Foster Bar Set

This is not a brag thread, although I am proud to own this. I was asked by a few members here and on another site I'm on regularly to post this, mainly as a reference since I'm the only one to have claimed to own (what I think) is the complete set. So finally having the time to take some pics, here it is.

The 1968 set (on the left) do not have matching serial numbers, but I'm working on that lol.

The 1969 set (in the middle) does have matching serial numbers, except for the Baker & Boyer and Fort Larned ones, which would be impossible because they were issued seperately from the original 5 bars that year. I also have the original box & cert. for this one.

The 1970 set (on the right) has matching number and I have the original box and cert. as well. The exception is the Great Bend, Kansas bar because it was issued seperately and is considered to be the most coveted bar of the compete set as it was the last one issued. I do not know the minatge of it though, just know that it's the rarest one.

I hope that you all enjoy and can refer to them as much as I do.

If you're into silver art bars, I highly recommend this new site that is being built specifically to find out more details about a silver art bar/round you may have.
I could be wrong but I believe 1970SA is an Admin. on it. (sorry if I am incorrect 1970SA).

I submitted all my Foster bars (and a few others) to them to help contribute to this site. Take a look here at silverartcollector.com. I feel it will be very helpful for you if this is your thing. Very user friendly, has a chat board and a BST.

Rich, that is a really nice collection of Foster bars. Nicely done. image

Are you working on a set of Foster poured bars as well? I am impressed by the quality of their 1 oz and 3 oz poured bars.

You are correct. I am one of the admins there. BTW I did see your submissions and I was able to add those Fosters bars on the site earlier today. When you go back to the site and browse under "Foster Mint", you should see all of them there. Thanks for your contribution to Silver Art Collector. image

Thanks for getting them all in there promptly 1970SA. I'm really enjoying watching how the site is growing and you & Tony have made it very user friendly. I'm glad to contribute to it.

Thanks OGIM. I do like the 3 oz poured ones too, but not enough to pay what sellers want for them. I'd rather buy some SOA (Swiss of America) rounds for that kind of scratch. image

Wow. I'm so glad to see someone taking on the task of organizing silver art bars. I can definitely contribute to what you have in there! I've got a pretty decent collection of art bars, as well as some older Foster pieces & sets and even some Comstock silver ingots & rounds. pm sent.

I too am very grateful that 1970SA and a guy from another site (i've done some business with that is a very nice guy) are taking up this task. It's already become a wealth of knowledge with surely more to come. I'm glad to help them in any way I can becuase of all the help they've provided not only to me, but to here at CU as well when trying to identify an art bar. I don't believe their getting anything for doing it, they're doing it for the love of the hobby.

You are correct. We are not getting anything for doing this. We love this silver art hobby very much and the founder and me (and other admins) wanted to create a place on the Internet for people to go to for obtaining information on any silver art bar/round that they have. That is the ultimate goal for Silver Art Collector. There is still a long way to go on this since the site has only been up for only about 2 months but I hope that SAC will be the place to go to for silver art information and for discussion on silver art bar/round related issues. I want to thank you and Meltdown for contributing to SAC. As a silver art bar collector, I am also learning myself about different silver art bars so when you and other submit silver art bars/rounds to add to the main SAC site, I am also learning something and I am also to do some research on the internet (ebay completed listings, etc) go to "real world" values on certain silver art bars/rounds.

Very impressive collection...thanks for showing....Cheers, RickO
  • Very nice collection, I've got a few of them but not even close to a complete set. At least I have the one from the bank in Kansas which is the rarest. image
