Let's see what you've got this week.
Kind of a scattered assortment for me this week. I've got an unopened box, 7.8oz's of Lonacre art, a BU roll of quarters,
A funky 2oz round piece and a copper Watergate ingot and California gold rush commem thingy... I found it at a "junque" store downtonwn.

What are these rounds I must'a missed the memo
It is a "Sammy Davis Jr" silver art bar. It was minted by The United States Silver Corporation for P & S Enterprises in 1974. I paid $40 for this today (spot silver close = $28.77/oz). It is a higher premium than normal for me to pay for a bar lately but they are getting harder to find and this particular is very hard to find even though the 5th edition Archie Kidd silver art bar guidebook lists a mintage of 2000. Serial # 800 (out of 2000).
It did come in the original case and here is what it looks like:
That Sammy Davis Jr silver art bar was on my silver art bar wish list and I am glad that I was able to find one.
Here is the 2nd bar that I bought at the coin show today:
It is a "Humphrey Bogart" silver art bar. It was minted by the Lincoln Mint in 1974 for Strauss Coins. 1750 of these were minted according to the 5th edition Archie Kidd silver art bar guidebook. Serial # 409 (out of 1750). I paid $36 for this bar (spot silver close = $28.77/oz).
Overall today, I am happy that I got what I wanted but at a higher than normal premium at a coin show.

Freedom Girl....see long time seperate post here.
cranberry shine if you're wondering, getting the studio warmed up.
Nice to see the eclectic (is that how you spell that?) tastes of everyone here proving that we collect what we like.
I've had some pretty nice purchases of late, but just don't have the time to take pics. Been working ALOT of OT lately...not by choice.

I just found "Breakable" bullion yesterday. Have you ever seen one actually broke? I wonder what it looks like and how easy they break.
Well was able to 20 more ASE into the herd this morning
Paul
It doesn't break very easily. I tried to break it by hand, and found that it was pretty tough and was going to bend.
So, I used two plier grips with a towel to break it.
I made special effort to make sure it broke at the line, but left a very rough ugly edge, which I filed down so as not to scratch.
Not going to break these though.

Wow, didn't expect you to break one. Whatcha gonna do with it now?
The jagged edge is what I expected. I saw a gold breakable bar on the internet recently (Not broken), I suspect the gold would be easier to break apart, it's a 50 gr piece (About the size of a credit card) that breaks into 1 gr sizes.
Thanks,
Ray
<< <i>I plan to sell each piece for more than the total worth. Still a nice 1/4 piece. >>
might even make a dollar or two
