Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Definitely too pricey for a group rip, imo...the value of that box is in it being left intact..

I believe the per pack price on the last rip was $275. The pack I got I submitted to PSA and it came back a PSA 7.

They were actually $225 after the 10% Steve gave. I think he actually had loose packs on the website at that time for $275, so we got a really nice discount for breaking a box.

Well, if we buy a box for a group break, you are welcome to purchase and open a pack..

Actually, you are correct, it was $225 last time around which was a good price (I was thinking of the $275 raw per pack price on the site)...that previous box was listed at 6K though so this one at $6,900 would be a bit higher..

Beautiful box for less than the last one at auction, and that's before any potential discount. Not sure it would be available on something like this. I don't think it will last long.
To put things into further perspective: about a year and a half ago, I bought a 1970 Topps High number box for about $600 more. That box could have had high-grade All-Stars cards, Mays, Aarons, Robinsons, Benches, Ryans, Roses. The list is endless. The gamble seemed a lot more worth it.
I remember when I was first collecting in the early 80's that the Carew and the Garvey were the marquee cards of the 1972 Hi-Number Series. Now they don't seem to have that same mystique. Still, it would be nice to pull a high-grade Ryan or Rose! I am not saying I don't want to rip this box!!
Oh well, I will go play with my 1981 grocery racks...
1972 was always a special set and year for me because I think the cards are gorgeous and it was the year I was born....always wanted this specific box....hmmmm
